Air Force fires commander of land-based U.S. nuclear arsenal
The Washington Post ^ | 11 Oct 2013 | Craig Whitlock

The Air Force on Friday fired the general in charge of all land-based nuclear missiles, the second time in a week that a senior commander of the country’s nuclear arsenal has been let go for allegations of personal misconduct.

Maj. Gen. Michael Carey, commander of the 20th Air Force, was removed from his job “due to a loss of trust and confidence in his leadership and judgment,” said Brig. Gen. Les Kodlick, an Air Force spokesman. Air Force officials said Carey has been under investigation since this summer for allegations of “personal misbehavior” but would not specify what prompted his firing.

Pressed by reporters at a Pentagon news conference, Kodlick said the case did not involve drugs, sexual misconduct, gambling or any form of criminal activity, but he declined to comment when asked if alcohol played a role. He said he could not give further details because the investigation was still underway.

“We wanted to make it very clear it wasn’t operations-related,” Kodlick said.

Carey’s firing comes two days after the Navy announced it had fired a three-star admiral from his post as deputy commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, which oversees all nuclear-armed missiles, bombers and submarines.

In that case, Vice Adm. Tim Giardina remains under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service after a casino in Iowa allegedly caught him using $1,500 in counterfeit gambling chips. The casino is near the Strategic Command headquarters in Omaha.

Organized crime — it’s another name for government. Or the other way around. These people know how to get things done, and they are ruthless.

Exactly how Hitler did it at first ... a general here an admiral there, all being replaced with people he could count on to do his bidding. He did this in the background until he had enough of his people in place, then he begin to purge wholesale.

That weak SOB needs to be arrested by authorities and tried and convicted of dereliction and executed.

Just to cover all the bases, it is also entirely possible that this was a crooked general.

I knew a senior chaplain once who secretly created his own “publishing house” which was only a post office box. He would then buy thousands of dollars of books from that publishing house using military funds. He would mail himself a few books and show them all around and claim to have distributed the entire order to the troops.

Gambling addict. It worked for a while until his assistant mentioned never seeing those cases of books. The guy almost became my supervisor, but was caught before we arrived at his installation.

“Seven Days in May”.....

The similarity being that the president acts before Gen. Burt Lancaster can
overthrow him. But in the movie, Gen. Lancaster did plan to overthrow the
president, which probably isn't the case here.

The nuclear angle here reminded me of Gen. Jack D. Ripper.

Obama and US Military = Stalin and Red Army in 1940. Good thing there are no Nazis to kick communist rainbow warriors who has replaced purged worthy officers now.

While the govt shutdown etc are important, the implications of this ongoing purge are chilling. I’m not sure what is worse- what we can imagine is happening, or what is truly happening? They have been these two, then a handful or so after Benghazi, and perhaps more. Something odd and disturbing is up.

Maybe he wouldn’t swear allegiance to gay marriage.

That was the first thought that popped into my head when they said “misconduct”. Not gay friendly enough.

Savage says it’s Obama’s effort to “deball” the military. Didn’t say that tonight but he’s said it several times before. But he hints that their relief of command was for reasons other than personal conduct.

Indeed. Hopefully, flag officers have learned they mustn’t say anything bad about Team Barry in any E-mails, phone calls or any conversations within facility walls. The NSA is undoubtedly working overtime to help the King purge the patriots from our military.
