S&P futures are now over 15 points off the day's highs, as it seems equity investors were hoping for a Cumbaya moment after the White House meeting today. However, as Bloomberg reports,

The Senate has passed a budget -- totally on party lines.
The Senate budget is, however, so unrealistic -- calling for more expenditures than are currently scheduled -- that the House has refused to take it up or go to Conference.
Recall that, some months ago, the House voted to deny salaries to the Senate until they passed a budget -- which is what caused the Senate to finally act.
The Democrats are not about dealing in good faith.

You've nailed it. This is all theatre. This does not mean Obama won't eventually deal. Obama wants to extract more grovel and look more powerful. Obama's advisors are running this show and are now exploiting weaknesses. Obama is just the front man / face for this operation
After more than a week of over-the-top pro-Obama propaganda by the MSM regarding the Shutdown, Obama’s approval rating has sunk to 37%.
John Boehner and the Republicans should take themselves out of the spotlight now and apply the wisdom of never interrupting your opponent when he’s in the process of destroying himself.
Tomorrow the Veterans and Truckers arrive in Washington to express the feelings of patriotic Americans and to remind wobbly Republicans like John Boehner and Paul Ryan what courage is.

We should not increase Obama’s out-of-control credit card limit.
If I had a kid at college who’d maxed out his card, who came begging for his limit to be increased, I’d wonder if he’d lost his mind. He’d already proved he didn’t know how to handle credit responsibly.
Same with Obama. A spend-a-holic who’s demanding an unlimited credit card. No way.

At first, I figured this was a joke but now I assume it’s most likely political theater, similar to what the DC council did in passing the anti-Walmart bill only to have the mayor veto it knowing it can’t be overridden.
Was he supposed to do something in return??? I thought Boner was caving on the debt ceiling unilaterally just to prove that he still has no backbone.
Maybe sheriff Joe Arpaio should go in Boehner’s place at the next meeting?
