Jobless claims spike to 374,000 over 308,000 from last week.

Numbers do not include furloughed government workers.

[cnbc.com changes the headline to bury the data. Original article title: "Jobless claims rise to 374,000 vs. 311,000 estimate".]

Reuters/CNBC are trying to provide some cover for the Administration by blaming computer trouble in California.

How many months has California been having computer problems with unemployment data?

Reuters tries to blame the shutdown by claiming 15k “claims were from nonfederal workers affected by the partial government shutdown.”

It’s been over 5 years and look where we are. When does the charade end? At the end of the day, journalism will never recover from this.

I don’t see how it could. But, maybe for different reasons, much of the public and many here refuse to face the reality of where we’ve been, where we are and where we’re going. Maybe reality is just too scary.

It’s not computer problems. They just can’t keep up with the number of ILLEGALS who are working under the radar.

Oh well.

not just illegals but those who are trying to get disability but then work for cash, trust me we have a family who moved here last year and they are loving life here, with their food stamps, welfare, waiting for disability , getting cash for work, kids get free breakfast and lunch, church gives them food twice a week and helps their bills

It’s always blamed on a ‘glitch’. Same as the multitude of problems with the 0bama/Robertscare roll-out are just glitches.

Jobless claime spike uprard? It isn’t a real rise, it’s just a glitch, trust us.

Jobless claims drop a lot? Sure, that’s a glitch, too, but all we hear about is the big drop not the glitch.

FR moderators aren’t interested in this news. Moved it out of breaking then moved it out of front page. A joke.

Nevada has had computer problems, also, trying to install a new system.

Why are we paying over & over again for ‘a new system’???

I am using a bookkeeping system I bought in 1991 on DOS. It works just fine.

I noticed that just a few minutes after I posted it. The linked webpage did change their headline.

But, I would have thought a 60,000 jump in unemployment for one week would be considered news worthy.
