It’s worth remembering that the federal government didn’t implement the original Amber Alert, Governor George W. Bush did in Texas.
Then other states followed. Pretty soon, 50 states had set up their own Amber Alert systems and interfaces together.
Later, when Bush won the Presidency, the program was nationalized.
The above means some things, though.
For one thing, the states can fund the Amber Alert system again if the feds can’t.
For another, states can get things done nationally without the federal government.
That’s how CCW laws went national, after all, one state at a time.

This reminds me of local news a couple years back.
At the ten PM break, they blurt out “Local community urged to boil water. Details at 11”
I was boiling mad! So some kid might get E-coli or whatever and die, and you ONLY care about keeping people in suspense so you can boost your damn ratings at 11?
Turned out to be not so bad, but I was furious for a week!

If the GOPe didn’t have it’s head up it’s collective butts they would trot out kids saved via Amber Alerts and their grateful parents.
Of course, the libs would hire profesional actors and if caught the MSM would spin it as they were informing the public of the programs importance.
