Cruz promises Republican victory in shutdown fight
CNN ^ | October 5, 2013 | Peter Hamby

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, blamed by Democrats and some of his fellow Republicans as a chief architect of the ongoing government shutdown, struck back on Saturday, faulting President Obama and Senate Democrats for the political stalemate.

“Let me be very clear, I don’t think we should be in a shutdown,” Cruz said in a speech to conservatives in the Virginia state capital. “Throughout the course of it, I have said we should not shut down the government. But sadly this is Harry Reid’s and President Obama's shutdown.”

The government shutdown began Tuesday when the president refused to give in to Republican demands that he delay or change the Affordable Care Act, the signature achievement of his first term that began enrolling patients on October 1, in exchange for passing a routine spending bill.

In the run-up to the shutdown, Cruz - whose profile has risen considerably among conservatives since taking office this year - had lobbied Republicans in the House and Senate not to relent, even as the president was promising not to sign any bill that would alter "Obamacare."

Cruz reminded the audience that House Republicans have passed multiple “narrowly targeted continuing resolutions” to fund parts of the government as negotiations continue, but he criticized Democrats for refusing to pass them.....

if you even trust, god forbid, some of the elected Republicans in Washington, they say we can’t win this fight.

What more can we ask from the next Republican presidential nominee? It's the Collaborators against the Good Guys.

Bring it on!

“The headline is misleading, and intended to put Cruz in a negative light.”

It’s the Clinton News Network. And you expected...?

I know. The only way to win is to go around the media and take the message straight to the people.

I find it ironic that most breaking news on FR is from lamestream media sources.

I would guess that you meant to type “SHUTDOWN,” but what came out was actually a fitting term for what’s going on in Washington.

My oldest daughter works for the federal government and is supposedly non-essential. She is telling everyone that she will take one for the team. Anything to reign in this federal government.

He’s deployed more guards to bar our World War II heroes from their memorial than he sent to Benghazi when our consulate was under attack.

The President is treating our veterans the same way he treated school kids when he cancelled their White House tours. When times called for obvious government belt-tightening, he took it out on kids rather than look for anything that would affect him personally. And while our vets are barricaded from the memorial they built with their heroism, the government “slim down” won’t affect Obama’s golf game or his family’s White House chefs.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are attempting to fund the Veterans Administration and other essential functions, but Democrats are blocking them because they want to make any slim down look as awful as possible in order to deflect from what this whole slim down thing is about, which is their Obamacare train wreck.

Because lamestream media sources sometimes get treated better here by some than say blog sources.

Sounds to me like some cultural re-assessments are needed.

Why? Reid plainly stated that if regular order were followed with each department being funded in its turn then he knew he would never get money for Obamuzziecare.-—(and you just can’t run death panels without big bucks in the slush fund.) And that’s the definition of a gutless bleephole that knows he’s backing a loser.

[In the “oom-pah” spirit of Oktoberfest, an old classic:]

“WHO CAUSED THE SHUTDOWN” POLKA
(Tune: ‘Who Stole The Kishka?’)

Someone caused the shutdown,
Someone caused the shutdown,
Who caused the shutdown,
And made the spending shop.

Who caused the shutdown?
Cruz caused the shutdown!
Cruz caused the shutdown,
Someone call a cop!

Fat with bloat & pork it’s packed
That’s the stash from ol’ Barack.
Someone caused the shutdown
When we turned our backs...

Cruz caused the shutdown!
Cruz caused the shutdown!
Cruz caused the shutdown-
Bring the spending back!

Reid loves Omnibus bills, just one vote and its over! Maybe this congress is not so malleable! We shall see!

The Democrats know that the Affordable Care Act is a loser. It's passage was contentious and characterized by coercion, bribes, threats, and promises to many Democrats. Few, if any, read or fully understood what was in the law. Now, as Pelosi, says it is opening like a flower so we can all see how the economy and health industry is being destroyed. President Obama has unilaterally delayed portions of the bill.

Yet, there is no acknowledgement that this is happening by the current Obama Administration or Harry Reid. The Main Stream Media have their heads in the sand. Administration officials are tight lipped about its "IPO" problems. Problems the administration has had three years to solve.

But, not to worry, the low information voters have their Obamaphones, as do the implementers of Obamacare!

There’s only one way to reestablish backbone, and that’s one vertebra at a time. I’ll accept a belated assertion of cojones as better than none.
