Furloughed Texan Cruz supporters to America: ‘You’ve got to stand up’

HOUSTON — Thanks to Texas’ new senator, Dale Huls is out of a job — at least for now. Yet Huls has never been prouder that he voted for him.

“Without Ted Cruz this doesn’t happen,” said Huls, a NASA systems engineer who was among roughly 3,000 federal employees furloughed from Houston’s Johnson Space Center after tea party Republicans triggered the partial government shutdown.

“This is something Americans have to get used to,” said Huls. “Even if it affects your livelihood, you’ve got to stand up.”

. . . . . .

The state is one of the richest beneficiaries of federal spending, with its sprawling military bases, Gulf Coast seaports, and nearly 2,000-mile border with Mexico, which help account for more than 131,500 full-time federal employees. Only California, Virginia and the District of Columbia have more.

Yet Cruz’s firebrand opposition to the nation’s new entitlement program — the Affordable Care Act — and his campaign to stop government growth at all costs were also born here, and resonate deeply with many conservatives. In Houston, home to thousands of federal workers and to Cruz himself, the shutdown has brought the love/hate relationship with government into plain view.

Huls said he doesn’t believe his job is a waste of money: “The public doesn’t think much of federal workers these days, but we’re people with car payments just like everyone else.”

Still, he said of Cruz, “He’s fighting for what he believes in and I’m taking a side.”

. . . . . . .

“It is not anyone’s patriotic duty to make Ted Cruz a household name,” said Darby, a leader of the American Federation of Government Employees, who said he’s “at home looking at my two dogs instead of working” because of furloughs.

Meanwhile the "news" media are desperately searching for gub'mint workers, or their families, who are angry at being furloughed and will publicly blame the Repubs, but not the Dems. Those are the "stories" the propaganda arm of the DNC want to tell.

Kudos toa news organization that will publish the other side to give balance.

There are many people like this guy being affected, furloughed, unpaid, etc (FReepers and others) who fully support the House holding the line. Not everyone connected to the govt is an ObeyMe thug.

These people will be paid once this stand off ends...they always have and this will be no different. So all the hardships are not as dire as they would have us believe.

Anyone who had a gov. job knows how this works and knew this could very well happen, many were prepared for this..been and done it before. It’s a paid vacation no matter how you look at it.

It’s so refreshing to see a politician on Capitol Hill whose number one priority ISN’T to stick it to the American people. Politicians like Cruz are hard to find.

I agree fed employees should not get back pay. I’m talking about all the other people out of work due to this mess , they certainly won’t. But that doesn’t mean they don’t support the House.

Yes, NASA.gov is non-operational, too. I went to look up the time for the conjunction of Venus, Mercury, Saturn and the moon tomorrow night. Never mind.......I get the star chart from the Michigan State University. The planets will all be in the western sky around 1/2 hour after sunset, if you all want a look.

Is a government shutdown really a government shutdown when the government in question is providing all necessary public services? NO. The term ‘’shutdown’’ is a propaganda device — a classic ‘’Big Lie’’ — that is now being mercilessly wielded by the Democratic/MSM machine to try to convince people they’re in a terrible crisis when they aren’t.

Is a single Republican Senator, Ted Cruz, who isn’t even in a leadership position, more responsible for keeping the so-called government shutdown in progress than the combined forces of the much more powerful president and Senate majority leader who adamantly refuse to negotiate an end to the impasse? NO. It’s just more propaganda.

It took the villagers in the children’s story only a short time to realize that the sky was NOT falling and that therefore Chicken Little was a fool for hysterically declaring that it was. Every minute the ‘’shutdown’’ continues, more and more Americans will realize that nothing adverse is happening and that the hysterical Democrats and MSM reporters are fools for declaring that the shutdown is a crisis.

Time is on the Republicans’ side. They must not cave in.

Why not?

The House just voted to pay them to be off work, the entire House GOP voted for that, a deal made with Obama and Reid

They hit the lottery.

Taxpayers working non-(GS) government jobs are suckers.

Harry refused to bring it up for a vote. The Senate has adjourned until Monday.

Anyone posting here should be going to every “news” site with articles on Ted Cruz and posting a comment of support for this man who represents the tax payer and the TEA Party. The left, the parasites, and the criminals in big government fear Ted Cruz.

This might be part of the reason why DoD ended it’s furlough. DoD employees tend to be more conservative than those in other agencies. Don’t want them out there making mischief for the libs.
