Furloughed Texan Cruz supporters to America: ‘You’ve got to stand up’

HOUSTON — Thanks to Texas’ new senator, Dale Huls is out of a job — at least for now. Yet Huls has never been prouder that he voted for him.

“Without Ted Cruz this doesn’t happen,” said Huls, a NASA systems engineer who was among roughly 3,000 federal employees furloughed from Houston’s Johnson Space Center after tea party Republicans triggered the partial government shutdown.

“This is something Americans have to get used to,” said Huls. “Even if it affects your livelihood, you’ve got to stand up.”

. . . . . .

The state is one of the richest beneficiaries of federal spending, with its sprawling military bases, Gulf Coast seaports, and nearly 2,000-mile border with Mexico, which help account for more than 131,500 full-time federal employees. Only California, Virginia and the District of Columbia have more.

Yet Cruz’s firebrand opposition to the nation’s new entitlement program — the Affordable Care Act — and his campaign to stop government growth at all costs were also born here, and resonate deeply with many conservatives. In Houston, home to thousands of federal workers and to Cruz himself, the shutdown has brought the love/hate relationship with government into plain view.

Huls said he doesn’t believe his job is a waste of money: “The public doesn’t think much of federal workers these days, but we’re people with car payments just like everyone else.”

Still, he said of Cruz, “He’s fighting for what he believes in and I’m taking a side.”

. . . . . . .

“It is not anyone’s patriotic duty to make Ted Cruz a household name,” said Darby, a leader of the American Federation of Government Employees, who said he’s “at home looking at my two dogs instead of working” because of furloughs.

>> These people will be paid once this stand off ends...they always have and this will be no different. So all the hardships are not as dire as they would have us believe.

Exactly.

“Anyone posting here should be going to every “news” site with articles on Ted Cruz and posting a comment of support for this man who represents the tax payer and the TEA Party. The left, the parasites, and the criminals in big government fear Ted Cruz.”

INDEED!!! Yesssss!!! FR is my launch pad. I find such coherent relevant discussion here and then I take it out to the lib sites and they hate it (which just tickles me pink). Everyone should make it a point to hit 10 lib sites a day, including the MSM. WE can’t wait to react to the libs BS anymore. That privilege is over.

We must Take The Fight TO Them now! Cruz is leading the charge!!!!!

“...Thanks to Texas’ new senator, Dale Huls is out of a job ...”

Actually, it’s thanks to Obastard and Harry Reid... but hey, why should a newspaper make any attempt to get it right...

Good to hear the guys isn’t blaming Senator Cruz. He did the right thing.

If I was a gov. employee I’d have three months saved for times as these....it’ goes with the job. These people knew ahead of time the gov. could shut down...they’ve done it many times before....just as with Gov. saying we should have preparation for surviving natural disasters...so too Gov. employees should be prepared.

Oh I can hear the excuses for not being prepared....from wages to having families and the costs of living. But taking a job with the gov. always means you will face this at some point. It’s a “natural disaster job risk”.

He’s deployed more guards to bar our World War II heroes from their memorial than he sent to Benghazi when our consulate was under attack.

The President is treating our veterans the same way he treated school kids when he cancelled their White House tours. When times called for obvious government belt-tightening, he took it out on kids rather than look for anything that would affect him personally. And while our vets are barricaded from the memorial they built with their heroism, the government “slim down” won’t affect Obama’s golf game or his family’s White House chefs.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are attempting to fund the Veterans Administration and other essential functions, but Democrats are blocking them because they want to make any slim down look as awful as possible in order to deflect from what this whole slim down thing is about, which is their Obamacare train wreck.

If you start a private for profit business you have do produce a good product or you won't stay in business. But NASA, the IRS, the EPA and the rest of government are totally unaccountable to anyone. this is just one reason why socialism/government can never work.

How will NASA now do all their urgent global warming studies that will save the planet from the global warming hoax. that Hansen creep at NASA was one of the main pushers of this global warming hoax. Also NASA did Muslim outreach. who still thinks government is accountable to the people? not me. gov is not accountable to anyone. they are the power. The IRS oppressed conservatives for 3 years and not one of those criminals as the IRS not even Obama nor Lois Lerner have been punished for those illegal crimes.Government is unaccountable and must be be abolished . it is an evil cancer that will destroy us and our freedom. The only thing the federal government should do is military , border control.

I agree, but we also need American industry.

We need to protect, and to grow, American jobs.

Now.

If I was “furloughed” and still getting back-paid — I would be supporting Ted Cruz also. Heck, all gubmint “workers” should be supporting this paid-vacation.

‘Germany is all about manufacturing’... and why they are doing so much better than other European countries...they get it in how to put people to work....bring in the industries and let them rip!

As long as the regulations are so stiff and unrelenting in the USA they will not come here.

I disagree.

The problem is, we are the country without a defensive trade policy.

China and Germany build up their industry.

We need to bring back American jobs. Now.

Not that easy as tweeking the trade policy.....

Yes they built up their industry...but not alone...there were many companies and American investors and investments along side them. Additionally a leadership who went out of their way to accomodate that.

Not so here in the USA....nor would there be with a Government bent on destroying and weakening our nation overall.

You’re dreaming if you think this Gov. is about creating an environment for business and industry....who are in fact who creates the jobs. Gov. never does.

Further with all the Unions etc. constantly begging for higher wages we have long lost our best and brightest workforce to other nations as well...and there is a huge “leak” of those moving into other nation states for that. I don’t blame them either.

MAny companies who close here offer their employees the opportunity to move to the country they’re re-locating the business to. Today ‘many’ are actually going where at one time it would have never been considered.

The fact is I can’t see the USA being much more than a service oriented country..as it is now.

Additionally...if Obamacaare goes thru you don’t think business and what industry is here won’t be hiring those coming in here from other nations ahead of those here? They get a Gov. subsidy for hiring them...plus they won’t have to insure them.

Be prepared to loose your job if someone from another country is here with Gov. invitation.

Repeal zoning and planning regulations. Abolish impact fees. Stop NIMBY-ism, and real production will happen.

Idiot liberals will always prefer government over private industry because idiot liberals are not creative or intelligent enough to meet the demands of private industry. They want the cushy jobs with inflated benefits and/or treated to unlimited easy living if they choose to sit at home, drink beer, screw *****es, and play xbox all day long.

They are worthless losers who will never be welcomed in any nation that wishes to preserve its own health and survival.

Some are just regular people who end up working for government because they need to support their families with whatever job they can find.

I hope all the conservatives who are furloughed will spend a bit of that extra free time posting, writing to their congresscritters, and doing anything else they can to ensure that the socialists (including RINOs) are thrown out.

Thank you to the Texans who are standing up for Cruz. Thank you to all patriotic Americans who are working hard to end this corrupt administration with its cheap political tricks, expensive taxes, deficit spending, and destructive policies.
