Lee: Establishment GOP Waged 'All-Out Attack' Against Cruz, Myself

In an interview on Salem Radio's Hugh Hewitt Show, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) revealed that in a conference meeting of Republican Senators earlier this week, a group of Republicans waged an "all-out attack" on himself and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX):

Hewitt: There was, allegedly, a Republican Senate conference earlier this week where your colleague Ted Cruz took a lot of slings and arrows. Were you there, Sen. Lee?

Lee: Yes, Yes! I was there and normally I don't comment at all on closed door meetings among Republican Senators. It's a pretty strict rule we follow. The one exception I'll make is in circumstances like this one where the contents of the meeting were leaked, deliberately, by several of my colleagues and leaked in a very one-sided way so I'm happy to tell you about it here.

Hewitt: Please do

Lee: It was an all-out attack against Ted Cruz and me. It was unflattering, it was unfair, it was demeaning. It was demeaning to Senator Ted Cruz and to me, but more than anything it was demeaning to those who engaged in the attack.

Hewitt: How many Senators rose to speak against you guys?

Lee: Quite a few, enough that I lost count. And you know I have to ask the question, you know, why were those who leaked this, and leaked this in a very unflattering, unfavorable way, why were they not willing to attach their names to those quotes?

You know Ted Cruz and I spoke after the meeting and we both concluded we would both be fine with the American people hearing and seeing exactly what we said in that meeting. But we're pretty sure that most of our colleagues would be very uncomfortable, and downright embarrassed if their constituents saw the way they were

Time to “leak” the names of the GOP Senators who savaged Senators Cruz and Lee. Voters should know who the enemy RINOs are.

McCain’s purse string is his rich wife. She will leave him in a heart beat if he is not in office.

$100 to FR if they are still married a year after he is out of office. That is what is called the under.

“an end game we don’t see”

They want:
A. To run against Obamacare next year - for obvious reasons.
B. To keep up the high spending- which they think is good for the economy.
And, of course, C. Look good on TV.

Their end game is winning elections so they don’t see Cruz’s end game.

The real end game of dealing with entrenched Obamacare and crippling debt is not in their thoughts.

Hello? The Establishment GOP has been doing this for years. Remember what they did to Palin?

Are you guys blind, deaf and dumb?

Don’t expect to be treated any differently by the GOP

this meeting happened BEFORE Cruz’z filibuster, I believe

they are bring this out now to embarrass the GOP

Whether it did or not, the interview between Hugh Hewitt and Mike Lee happened today.

I doubt Senator Lee, being the gentleman that he is, would have brought it up if things had materially improved in the GOP Senators group.

I agree w/ all of your points. These Republican elite do not have the best interests of the country in mind w/ their actions/words. The only thing that matters to them is staying in power and using their ‘power and connections’ to make more money and stay in ‘power’. IMO...they live in this make believe land where if you have enough power...you can get whatever/whomever you want.

I say chuck them all to the side. Time for some new folks. I wish we had term limits...cuz then perhaps ...perhaps... elected officials would actually do what’s in the best interest of our nation.

Very good point. These harsh words said behind closed doors may well have not seen the light of day if attitudes/feelings had improved. My gosh I loathe McCain and his ‘very good friend’ Lindsey. Loathe.

Maybe I’m crazy, but IMO the Establishment Republicans (ERs) and Obama are in this whole charade together.

Ever hear of good cop; bad cop? They been playing that game for decades.

I think the GOPe Senate and cronies people are being paid and promised that they will be paid. I think this is all about money. Not power so much as money. That, too, though.

Imagine if the GOPe Senators are being promised some sort of position in an 0bama dictatorship that eliminates the House. And impeachment.

All this was planned. From the get go.

lee was reacting to a story that came out in the news, even though the story was old

this is what the media want to stir up Lee and the GOP with the old story re-hashed yesterday to make them look bad

THIS IS THE STUFF GOING ON WITHIN THE GOP I AM TRYING TO STOP!

Probably wasting your time. I think a new party is looking like the better option with each passing day. If these so-called right-leaning GOPe types truly believed in anything conservatives supported, we wouldn't be having these problems. Basically, they are telling conservatives "like it or lump it", which also happens to be what our Marxist president is saying.

This country is in serious trouble.
