In an interview on Salem Radio's Hugh Hewitt Show, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) revealed that in a conference meeting of Republican Senators earlier this week, a group of Republicans waged an "all-out attack" on himself and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX):
Hewitt: There was, allegedly, a Republican Senate conference earlier this week where your colleague Ted Cruz took a lot of slings and arrows. Were you there, Sen. Lee?
Lee: Yes, Yes! I was there and normally I don't comment at all on closed door meetings among Republican Senators. It's a pretty strict rule we follow. The one exception I'll make is in circumstances like this one where the contents of the meeting were leaked, deliberately, by several of my colleagues and leaked in a very one-sided way so I'm happy to tell you about it here.
Hewitt: Please do
Lee: It was an all-out attack against Ted Cruz and me. It was unflattering, it was unfair, it was demeaning. It was demeaning to Senator Ted Cruz and to me, but more than anything it was demeaning to those who engaged in the attack.
Hewitt: How many Senators rose to speak against you guys?
Lee: Quite a few, enough that I lost count. And you know I have to ask the question, you know, why were those who leaked this, and leaked this in a very unflattering, unfavorable way, why were they not willing to attach their names to those quotes?
You know Ted Cruz and I spoke after the meeting and we both concluded we would both be fine with the American people hearing and seeing exactly what we said in that meeting. But we're pretty sure that most of our colleagues would be very uncomfortable, and downright embarrassed if their constituents saw the way they were

GOP-E Backstabbing Ted Cruz and Mike Lee Ping!
This is a Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
The RINOs in the House should be voted out regardless of the risk.
Let me guess the leading chump. His last name starts with an “M” and end in an “n”.
Maybe I’m crazy, but IMO the Establishment Republicans (ERs) and Obama are in this whole charade together. They have an end game we don’t see: maybe it’s single payer, maybe it’s another perk, maybe the ERs don’t want to lose their little kingdoms, or maybe the NSA/Obama have a 2-inch thick dossier on all of the Republicans. Who knows.
I am very thankful for Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and the other person who have been standing up for our rights. They are gutsy. Thank you to the Congresspersons helping the WWII vets into the memorial as well.
Glad that the evil people are showing their hands.
You were saying that the NY Times article was just an attempt at dividing Republicans, and insinuating that the report of the back-stabbing behavior of the Republicans was probably nonsense?
Well, here you go, from Senator Mike Lee’s own mouth about the treacherous, cowardly behavior of the GOP with regards to the efforts of Senator Cruz and Senator Lee to defund Obamacare.
No doubt these two slug were obnoxious azzhats.
THIS IS THE STUFF GOING ON WITHIN THE GOP I AM TRYING TO STOP!
Hey Mike... we are big boys so lay it all out on the table. Let these vermin stand on their own words and actions. We have your backs and we will not let you down. Give ‘em hell Mike!
A freak of nature... twin penis heads!
This kind of stuff from the RINOs is just not implausible enough to be doubted no matter the source. It’s the same garbage that they used in the primary last year to push Romney and slap down all the challengers.
When an elected representative (House or Senate) feels his little fiefdom is more important than those who elected him, it’s time for him to start collecting unemployment.
I thought it might have been hyped but Cruz told Rush last week that this is how the old gurad acts in all of their meetings. We need names and quotes and then we need to see to it that these vermin are unemployed. We are at war with the gop/e and war is what we must wage!
Sorry to disappoint you on your assumptions, no. Good we have first-hand information on this.
You say you want to trust Time and the New York Times for your news. Okay.
The House Republicans defunded Obamacare just like the Senate did. Oh wait.
Don't want to say who that other person might be but I think his initials are Marco Rubio.
No respect for Mccain. I don’t care for his “hero” status. Probably was indoctrinated while in prison.
Think you are correct, it’s been a LONG week.
