German carmaker BMW is recalling 176,000 vehicles from the model years 2012 to 2014 over a problem with the power brake system.
The company says in rare cases an interruption in the oil supply to a part can mean the loss of power braking assist. The brakes will still work, but the driver would have to press harder on the pedal.
The recall covers 76,200 vehicles sold in the U.S.

I didn’t think BMWs broke down until the payments were completed...........well, back to the drawing board!............

My Mom just bought the Mercedes Benz E 350 and she likes it..nice car just takes some time to get used to(Since she is used to driving a Toyota Avalon)
People basically won’t have power brakes in the case of failure is what I gather, back to the good old days!
I had a 2003 BMW for nearly 90,000 miles and it was a good car. I had to pay for rear brake service (fronts covered under warranty) and the differential developed a leak around 75K miles. The total cost for service was about $1400 in the 5 years I had the car, but I piled up mileage pretty fast at first and was out from under warranty in about 2.5 years. A lot of folks would get more service from the 4 year/50K mile warranty than I did.
I would definitely buy one again, but I can’t afford a new BMW, or any new car these days (thanks Obama!).
BMW & Mercedes quality peaked in the late 1980’s - early 1990’s.
Those cars were built well and ran forever. You still see them on the road, including my 1988 BMW 325i Convertible.
