Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze needs to hold players accountable for insensitive behavior (Gay)

OK, Hugh Freeze. Time to lead.

Lead your football players at Mississippi out of ignorance and into understanding. Lead your young men toward accountability. Show that the remarkably, distressingly resilient track record for intolerance at Ole Miss can be changed for the better.

Because if ever a situation cries out for a coach to set the tone of team behavior, and to firmly establish what is acceptable and unacceptable, it's the situation at Ole Miss today. This is no time for soft-peddling it. There is a reputation at stake for a team, a university and a state. [SNIP]

Many Christians openly consider homosexuality a sin, even in the face of dramatically changing public opinions in this area. I don't know where Freeze stands on this. But regardless of his beliefs, players who are openly hostile toward the mere subject matter of homosexual persecution are in need of immediate behavior modification.

Actually, my understanding is that the football players were forced to attend the play as some sort of freshman diversity training....in which case they should be commended....very few people have courage enough to challenge the agenda of perversion... Go Ole Miss!

“...would probably kill off the football program over this, if it wouldn’t tick off the car-dealer alumni base.”

Now that’s just plain unkind! Don’t most jocks move up to the executive suite?

I think that if the players were making fun of anything, they were making fun of a play that has turned out to be a lie. The whole Matthew Sheperd story is one big lie.

LOve the comments at Yahoo. About 50-1 ripping the lib writer...

Some of the good ones...

I guess the author thinks that it’s ok for members of the gay community to walk into a Catholic church dressed as nuns and kiss each other during a Sunday service, but its not ok for straight people to voice their displeasure with the gay community during a play. I disagree with both, but what do you expect when one side openly mocks the other with support of the liberal media. The left is going to push too far and the backlash will be severe. The pot is beginning to boil over.

So “Freedom of Speech” is one-sided now? The cast members can go to the football games and yell at the players if they choose. I bet the players will not be defended by this so called writer. Bad taste? Absolutely. Cruel? Sure. I would be all for the team taking some sensitivity training, and next time leave if they are offended. But no one should tell them what THEY should tolerate.

How did this article take this angle? Was the behavior appropriate? NO. Was it unusual? NO. Unfortunately, I have attended many theatre events at our local college; unfortunately, some of those performances have been set aside as “student” nights when many in attendance were only there in order to receive credit for an English or music class. The behavior of many of the students on those nights sound very similar to the behavior of the students at Ole Miss. Was it appropriate? NO Did I search down these students and ask who the teacher was who had them attend and hold that teacher responsible? Or who their coaches were, because many of them appeared to be athletes? NO If I were to hold anyone responsible ,other than these students themselves, who by the way, are now adults, it would be their parents who did not teach their own children appropriate behavior. Was the behavior a result of the theme of the play? I doubt it. I have witnessed this behavior whether it be a comedy, a drama, a musical, a children’s show. The coach is “under fire” because he is a Christian??? What does that have to do with any part of this story? Or really, how did he even become a part of the story? Or finally, why was there even a story? Oh, it’s a problem, and these individuals were wrong, but why is their coach, their school, or anyone else to be responsible for their individual behavior?

The intolerance is from people like the author and members of the so-called LGBT community who thinks they are entitled to special treatment due to their lifestyles. Sorry, I could care lesswhat your orientation is, but when you ram it down my throat I get fed up. You’ve got a right to perform any play you want; others have the right to cast aspersions on the play and your performances. Tough luck if you don’t like it.

I have no idea of the play’s content

It's about a gay man who was murdered by his lover over a drug deal that went bad.

The facts were changed to protect the agenda.

You are forgetting that these are people doing something adverse to nature. What they are doing is an arrogant perversion. It is a choice and it is bad behavior. So why should everybody else cowtow to their abhorant live style? I will never!

How about we instead subject university administrators and journalists who are hostile to the mere subject of Christian persecution to mockery and riducule, and fire those who actually engage in the persecution of Christians.

I find the word “gay” offensive. I am more tolerant of “Deviant homosexual.
These students were mocking the portrayal of a nest of homos killing one of their own in a bitch fight. Can’t make more of it than it was.

Missed this bit earlier, but it is indicative of the University's position:

"Ole Miss dean of students Sparky Reardon said a bias incident response team, which is made up of faculty and staff, would investigate the incident and make any discipline recommendations to the university."

A BIAS INCIDENT RESPONSE TEAM? LOL!

A good message to take from it would be to not get involved in any homosexual activity or relationships and you’ll live a lot longer. Probably not the intended message but a true one.
