Many Germans have found it hard to understand American lawmakers’ inability to resolve their budget disagreements in time to prevent a shutdown of all nonessential government services, which went into effect at midnight on Monday night. “What Washington currently offers up is a spectacle, but one in which the spectators feel more like crying,” writes the conservative daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
“Because Republicans and Democrats, House and Senate, Congress and president could not agree on a stop-gap budget, hundreds of thousands of federal employees were sent on involuntary leave and many agencies were forced to shut down,” continues the editorial. …
The overwhelming consensus among the German press is that the Republicans are the most to blame for the gridlock. In a Tuesday commentary, Spiegel Online’s Gregor Peter Schmitz dubbed them the “kamikaze party.” He attributed the gridlock to America’s mercenary political culture—where directly-elected lawmakers run for re-election every two years and campaigns are privately financed—as well as to the lack of party infrastructure compared to Germany’s parliamentary model with its publicly-funded campaigns. …

International media are some of the most hilarious Obama groupies ever. After the first Obama Romney debate, their headlines were blaring about how Obama won the debates hands down.
Obama is placed on a pedestal in at least 80 % of the world’s nations. And honestly, it is the idea they are so enamored with, an idea that they don’t actually understand conceptually.

I’m not sure how the Krauts fashion their state budgets, but I’m sure it’s nothing like the way we do it. They probably actually have some spending guidelines.
What makes it worse is that this is a country that elected its first black politicians to the Bundestag only last month.
They do have a rather large bureaucracy to funnel dough to.
Their corporate tax rate is lower than ours, though. But what is worse is that when they find a country in the EU whose corporate tax rate is yet lower than theirs (e.g. Ireland), they put pressure on that country to “harmonize” (i.e. raise) their corporate tax rate to match theirs, and thus make the other country lose its competitive edge.
Nevertheless, this isn't difficult to understand. The House has no intention of passing 0bamacare. Nearly everything else the Dems ask for, yes, to their discredit, but not 0bamacare. It may be a mystery to our European cousins why this is not negotiable, but it should not be difficult to discern who isn't negotiating.
Der Spiegel are themselves left-leaning. They partnered with the NYT when it came to publishing the Wikileaks documents too.

And given that that list started with our Dem congrasites, the opinions of leftist Germans, or leftist Belgians, or Turkmens, or Uzbeks, or Uighurs doesn’t even make it to the zero line.
