If there are 80,000 or more people working in government, civil or not, that are unimportant to the shutdown, why don’t we just fire them and use their wages for something important like paying off the trillions of dollars that bamaboy has spent????

Do does the fed gov pay “taxes to itself” to cover unemployment like corporations do? Or it is a fake escrow acct like Social Security?

Well as one federal employee on the radio said today — all furloughed federal employees should just stay at home and enjoy their time off because when they come back to work they will get paid for their furlough time.

That does not happen in the private sector. That is double dipping as is filing for ue and not only receiving it but also getting paid later for that furloughed time.

capeesh???

And, by the way, you ARE a heartless person, aren't you?

When it comes to whiny non-essential federal employees, yes.

In the private sector, we have to deal with temporary work stoppage all the time, especially contractors. As far as I'm concerned, you don't file for unemployment unless you are unemployed.

If they want to claim they have been laid off permanently, then they are welcome to claim involuntary unemployment. But, that requires them to give up their job.

They are double dipping if they collect unemployment now and later, when the govmint starts up, they receive back pay for the same time period. This scenario has happened in the past.
