This worries me in one respect: delaying the mandate moves it past the 2014 election, allowing the democrats to blame insurance companies (and capitalism) for the job losses, reduced hours and dropped health insurance. "Hey, it isn't Obamacare, that doesn't kick in until 2015." That isn't true, the law will still be in effect, but lying is the democrat (and media) way.

And Cantor saying "this protects the people who us here from Obamacare" is just ridiculous. The cancer will still spread unless the law is DEFUNDED.

House Republicans will vote to pass a one-year delay of Obamacare in exchange for funding the government, a plan that drastically increases the chances of a government shutdown this Tuesday. The decision was announced by the GOP leadership in a closed meeting Saturday afternoon, according to sources present. Republicans will also pass a bill to fund U.S. troops if the government shuts down, according to GOP lawmakers. The House’s funding measure will keep the government open until mid December. This puts Senate Democrats and the White House at loggerheads with House Republicans...

“...drastically increases...”? I would say “hopefully increases”. Shut down the feds. The feds (with few exceptions) aren’t worth employing.

We have ALWAYS survived government shutdowns (about 17 times in recent history) - doing so is just a “bump in the road”. But, it is not the GOP who has been making the threat, and it is not the “vetted rebels” in the GOP that has made the threat - it has been the White Crib and the Senate Majority Leader who are really making the threat as a proxy for the GOP NOT making the threat. The Libs are trying to project the shutdown that they are threatening onto the GOPe.

Then shut it down!!!

“The cancer will still spread unless the law is DEFUNDED. “

There’s a whole lot of complexity here and behind the scenes maneuvering. If all of the House Republicans voted for it I believe it is a good move. In chess you’d like to immobilize the king in one move. But it seldom happens that way in real games. A lot of pawns are knocked over first. I hope they’re playing chess as Obama is playing checkers.

If this makes it through the Senate it will still be a powerful tool to run on in ‘14. Plus, there’s a chance that President Tin Ear will reject it. This puts further pressure on Democrats and it runs out the clock on funding, which is more a Dem problem than an Rep problem.

A one-year delay of Obamacare doesn’t fix a damn thing.....it needs to be killed and killed NOW, period.

For the next year we will be ini dated with stories of people that have died because of the “delay” and on and on.

If the republicans do not fund Obamacare, it will be Obama that shuts down the government.

These monkeys didn’t learn a damn thing from Cruz.

LOL! This isn’t even coherent.

The effort to keep up The Big Lie is starting to wear the media down, they’ll soon be suing their Dem bosses for repetitive motion disorder...

so...up to the next election, we will be seeing this “budget crisis” battled out every 3 months?

4 more huge opportunities for the Dems to parade their “victims” and threaten voters with non-existent cuts that will be blamed on the GOP.

Defund...not delay.

Unions routinely “shut down” govt services like public education when they strike.

How come Dem groups can do this- but not millions of fed-up taxpayers?

Unions are NEVER attacked as “terrorists” for depriving kids of education - nor are Teamsters who strike, shut down nation’s ports!

Unions can “shut down” government, but never demand-side taxpayers, who are called “extremists” for boycotting massive insolvency, high costs, and fiscal mismanagement!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think that perhaps they are trying some sort of incremental strategy? I wonder because the article said the bill would fund the government through November 15. So we will be back here again in a month and a half. Will they try to delay or defund another portion then, and so on?

90-day funding bills. Before long we will be down to funding the government week to week.

In Judo if you’re pinned by a guy who weighs more you inch your forearms under you and move bit by bit until you can escape. I think that’s exactly what’s going on. If so, kudos to the R’s.

That jumped out at me too. But have we had a budget to be in crisis about since Dusty Harry took over in the Senate?

But it doesn't stop Republicans from making it an issue in the primaries or general.

Linsey Graham for instance will have to run on his vote for cloture and this extension will give us time to educate the American people on what that really meant. And even if they push past Oct vote, Republicans can raise hell over where these politicians ALREADY STOOD on Obamacare.

I’ve said the Republicans should do this only as a last resort, but you can add it to the litany. (Obama has already said he’ll veto a delay.)

“We tried to repeal Obamacare. We tried to defund it. We tried to make Congress live under it. We tried to give you, the working people, the same break that the Democrats gave Big Business. We tried to delay it. The Democrats stomped on each of these efforts, contrary to the will of the people. Vote them out. Give us control. We’ll do everything we can to end this program.”

Then DO IT!!!

The Republicans WON the 1995 shutdown. Nobody noticed anything different, there was no disaster as the Democrats predicted, Clinton was forced into signing welfare reform (which he had vetoed twice before), and we got a balanced budget -- at least, on paper. The Republicans gained 2 Senate seats.

Is this why the Establishment (in both parties) is so afraid of another shutdown?

Rand Paul has stood with Cruz, Lee, and the rest on defunding Obamacare and helped Sen. Cruz with his filibuster. He was very good on the drones. There are plenty of RINOs; let’s not start picking fights with one of the limited-government, constitutionalist Republicans.
