Cigarette taxes are already so high they are causing many people to quit. Hence the funding for this new program will be self-terminating.
Won’t be long till they come back and hit us up with an income tax hike “for the children”.

Taken together, these two measures would help ensure a future of smart, healthy kids nationwide and in every state, according to the report, released Wednesday by a coalition of nine public health and legal groups.Drango's Dragons ride again! Vincent DiMarco will be pleased.

This rather begs a question -
since this will affect the EBT crowd disproportionately,
will they now allow cigs to be bought on EBT?

If we are making the government dependent on revenue for cigarettes, doesn’t that incent them to keep people smoking?

President Obamas plan to raise the federal cigarette tax by 94 cents a pack would put 2 million low and middle-income kids through preschool, a new report has concluded.
From the NY Post
Cig-tax hike creates total drag on sales
ALBANY Sales of taxed cigarettes have plummeted a staggering 27 percent statewide since the highest cigarette tax in the nation took hold in July, a Post analysis has found.
Law-abiding cigarette dealers have sold an average of 30 million packs of smokes in each of the last four months some 11 million fewer than before Gov. Paterson and lawmakers raised the state tax on cigarettes to $4.35 a pack in a scramble to close a massive budget gap.

Where in the US Constitution does it give the president the power to tax? Forgive me, but did Congress actually write a law that surrendered this power to President Obama? I’m being serious. What’s the legal justification for him to do this?
(I know. I know. Laws are for schmucks these days, but sometimes it pays to at least give the appearance a president is following the law.)

This Nazi crap isn’t about “public health”. This is all about the commie ‘RATS’ greed for MORE OF OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY!!!! If this bull**** was about “public health”, the commies would just ban tobacco as they are trying to do with guns.

Only Liberals could say:
Taxes don’t discourage consumption, but taxing cigarettes does, HOWEVER - these specific new taxes on cigarettes won’t effect use and we’ll bet our education system funding on it.
Talk about smoking something...

Why don’t the freeloading parents of the “2 million low and middle-income kids” pay to put their own “kids” through preschool? This is BS communism.
