House GOP may attach Obamacare delay to CR

The House Republican leadership is seriously considering attaching a one-year delay of Obamacare’s individual mandate to the Senate bill to avert a government shutdown, according to senior GOP aides.

If House Republicans decide to go this route, it would all but provoke a government shutdown, since Senate Democrats might not even schedule a vote on a bill that includes that provision, Senate leadership staffers say. Even if the Senate schedules a vote, there might not be time to move the legislation through the slow-moving chamber.

The House Republican leadership is planning its next move as it becomes abundantly clear that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s gambit to defund Obamacare will fall short. The federal government is set to shut down Tuesday unless a new funding bill is enacted, and the Senate might not even send a bill to the House until Sunday — leaving a hot potato on Speaker John Boehner’s lap shortly before a government shutdown. The Senate bill will fund the government through Nov. 15.

Shut the gov’t down until Nov, 2014 and let’s see what happens at the ballot box.

Mark Levin and Louie Gohmert nailed it when they said only the incompetent House Leadership would come up with a counter proposal BEFORE the original proposal was even voted on....

Bawling Ball-less Brain-less Bone-less Bohner is an incompetent MESS!!!

Meaning the it’s abundantly clear that McConnell plans to support Obamacare.

Republican leadership is attempting to undermine Cruz’s effectiveness with a one year individual delay.

Keep poking the nest. Eventually they’ll run out of hornets, then we can burn the nest down once we’ve taken down all the names.

Correct. The "tell" in this is the timing of this bit of news.

I think any negotiated 1 year delay in Obamacare should be a last resort option.

I thought I liked the idea of eliminating any waivers -- EVERYBODY must participate -- but then I remembered we have a shameless pResident who wouldn't enforce that requirement.

But then I thought of an even better maneuver -- give the GOP and the American people something to vote FOR not AGAINST. Rather than voting to force every person, group, company, doctor or healthcare facility to participate, the GOP should add an amendment to the CR or debt ceiling measure which allows every person, group or company to EXEMPT themselves or their company from participating in Obamacare.

Everybody gets a waiver!!!

With this approach the GOP can't be blamed for shutting down the government or taking away any healthcare. And with no producers to pay for the slackers and few participating doctors and facilities, the weight of the program will collapse Obamacare on itself.

No delay. Let America feel the pain, let them see the chaos and stupidity, and they’ll remember who did it in 2014.

Delay should be only a last resort, after everything else fails. But if the Democrats reject even that wimpy plan, you wrap it around their necks.

Exactly. Delay seems like political idiocy. If we’re going to have this CF, at least wring some political benefit from it.

What happens if we don’t take the Senate in 2014?

Obamacare will be entrenched by 2015, and much damage will be done to businesses and the economy.

That’s what Reid and the ‘rats are hoping for.

A complete collapse of Obamacare, and the damage it does to the economy, yields a wide open door for single payer.

The same as what happens if we do, because Zero will still be in office.

A complete collapse of Obamacare, and the damage it does to the economy, yields a wide open door for single payer.

Not if we keep the House, which is likely.

To be so dominated by your fears is to put the enemy in control of your strategy.

Fears? Ha! We have every reason to be fearful with the leadership we have in the House.

That's easier to fix than you apparently think.

I think it’s simply to destroy the U.S. Single payer won’t’ work if there are no payers.
