Putin criticizes Europe’s secularization
Catholic World News ^ | 9/24/2013

At a recent talk, President Vladimir Putin defended Christian values and criticized the secularization of Europe, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.

“We have been able to see many Euro-Atlantic countries effectively embark on a path of renouncing their roots, including Christian values, which underlie Western civilization,” he said. “Policies are pursued that put large families and same-sex partnerships in the same category, belief in God and belief in Satan.”

“Excesses of political correctness reach the point where there are serious discussions on the registration of parties that have propaganda of pedophilia as their objective,” he continued. “People in many European countries are ashamed and afraid of speaking about their religion, holidays are abolished or given other names, names that shyly conceal the nature of those holidays, and aggressive attempts are made to force this model on the rest of the world.”

“This is a direct path to degradation and primitiveness, to deep demographic and moral crises,” he added. “What can be a better indication of a moral crisis in human society than its loss of the ability for self-reproduction?”

I don’t trust Putin, but it seems that Bush was not entirely wrong in his charitable assessments of him.

Putin talks more like a man with more than a shred of decency permeating his character. I look at Putin and think what a disgraceful piece of ghetto trash we have sitting in the White House.

Incredible, isn’t it? Growing up in the eighties, they were the evil empire - now the roles are reversed.

I suspect he is looking at the disappearance of Europe’s individual cultures and doesn’t want the same fate for his people. I don’t want it for mine, either.

I knew I’d lived too long when I learned my country was led by a Marxist Communist Muslim and Russia was led by a Christian. But, after all, Russia is the inheritor of the Byzantine Empire and Putin could now become Emperor Constantine XII. (and I’m not so sure that’s sarcasm)

Told you. Putin is an enemy of Islam and he’s fighting a religious war. How many christian orthodox churches has he built again? 200?

Putin has murdered more people than the average jihadi or atheist lunatic could DREAM of killing. That he is able to con people even at FR into believing he is a “Christian” is testimony to his KGB training in disinformation.

Hmmm... Putin is laying down his political vision with which he will embark on another run for presidency. Now that the Western Europe is economically and spiritually heading down to the bottom, he wants to claim the champion of new Christian civilization. The Rebirth of quest for the Third Rome encompassing the whole Europe and more.

Back in the ancient times, Western Roman Empire withered away and Eastrn Roman Empire expanded and prospered. Putin wants the same dream, this time his domain stretches all the way to Vladivostok.

This is his vision. It is another thing if Putin or Russia will be able to deliver the result

“I constantly find myself asking, What is he really up to?”

I’ve been wondering the same thing. Putin is a cynical guy who will do or say whatever is expedient. It’s hard to believe that this Russian KGB thug is suddenly a Christian. Although I welcome his words to the Europeans - but this is definitely Bizarro World. I read - here probably - that he is doing this Christian schtick to help unify Russia and promote the birth rate...but there must be more to it than that. In any case, it’s refreshing to hear these words coming out of a world leader’s mouth.
