Pope Francis denounces abortion after decrying church's focus on rules
CBS ^ | September 20, 2013 | staff

Pope Francis offered an olive branch of sorts to the doctrine-minded, conservative wing of the Catholic Church on Friday as he denounced abortions as a symptom of today's "throw-away culture" and encouraged Catholic doctors to refuse to perform them.

Francis issued a strong anti-abortion message and cited Vatican teaching on the need to defend the unborn during an audience with Catholic gynecologists.

Abortion is evil, liberal nuns need to be reigned in.

So much for the change that libs were hoping for.

“...offered an olive branch of sorts to the doctrine-minded, conservative wing”? I find it rather scary that the media is not even trying to hide their contempt for life. HOW DO YOU KNOW Francis intended his comments as a symbol and not as a fact? You don’t. You’re still stuck on fake but accurate reportage, cBS.

I just love how CBS characterizes the affirming of Church dogma as an “Olive branch to Conservative Catholics.” (to paraphrase). What nonsense. Are they implying that the Pope doesn’t really take the teaching on abortion seriously but just keeps it on hand to pacify certain members of the Church?

I haven’t read all the Pope has said recently, but I get the impression he’s saying the Catholic Church should be approachable versus the MSM spin. But we’ll see, I wouldn’t be shocked if there was a sellout.

I’m afraid as far as abortion goes, like most other churches, money talks loudest.

Sadly, most American Catholics get their catechesis from the lib media. They, as well as CBS, fully believe that it is a democratic organization, not founded by Christ, based on biblical study and truth.

They think the pope would or could just legislate on things like he’s Ed Koch.

Forget non catholics. That’s a whole other entity.

Hate the sin love the sinner particularly on this issue is so well documented in the Church that this popes st just be shaking his head.

Catholic men all over this country will spend hours reading, standing in line and worshipping football every week but don’t have ten minutes a week for the catechism and their wives won’t take a moment so they depend on CBS and they’re all off on a tangent when the pope kind of expects them to know he’s not God. He cannot make something evil or not evil. There’s truth and the pope can’t change it.

He must be going ‘what is this?’

He's saying the same thing Jesus said: that God's mercy is accessible to all people of good will.

Commies and other people who hate the Catholic church will torture whatever he says, and its translation, to suit their needs.

I hate the cheap, shallow, cynical political language.

"In a sop to doctrinal reactionaries in Jerusalem, Jesus of Nazareth today voiced support for the so-called 'Ten' 'Commandments'. This is widely interpreted by faith experts as a compromise designed to quiet critics who say he has slid too far in his rhetoric about mercy and grace."

I'm rolling my eyes so far I can see the front of my brain.

Tagline.

OK, Pope Franky, nice work so far. Now could we get a position on pedophile priests? Maybe you could throw the ones you’re shielding in the Fatican out so’s we can get to them.? Just baby steps of course-—not asking for anything severe or profound. Don’t hurt your back with anything that looks like heavy lifting.

And by the way——who the bleep is Pope Franky talking to/at with the “throw away culture” line of krap? I know he waved off the new red shoes but that hardly defines a life style throwing stuff away. Maybe he should give a PBS class on how to make gravy , pan licking, sock darning, chicken picking, sausage grinding, tire re-capping, britches patching, etc? Or does he think he’s got it covered by not throwing away live babies? I really get sick of that Popeish Preachy krap that’s not followed up with “do as I do.”

LOL! The lamestream media really hates it that the Pope now says abortion is wrong....

Attention, CBS morons: Your apparent attempt to disdain the church’s respect for life and godly marriage has failed.

What the dim bulbs don’t understand is that abortion is not a “rule.” It’s part of Church doctrine on not killing.

He just meant we shouldn’t expect people to give up sin first, before we even reach out to them, and that we have to call them with a positive message.

I don’t know why the libs were so thrilled yesterday, because if they had taken the time to actually read what he said, they would have understood immediately.

I’m very glad he clarified this because life is not a minor doctrinal issue.
