Scientists ‘Very, Very Confident’ They’ve Found Extraterrestrial Life

Scientists at a British university say they are confident they found evidence of life that originated in space.

Researchers at the University of Sheffield sent a scientific balloon into the stratosphere — often described as the edge of space — during a Perseid meteor shower, which collected small organisms they believe are not from Earth.

“Most people will assume that these biological particles must have just drifted up to the stratosphere from Earth, but it is generally accepted that a particle of the size found cannot be lifted from Earth to heights of, for example, 27km. The only known exception is by a violent volcanic eruption, none of which occurred within three years of the sampling trip,” professor Milton Wainwright said in a statement.

It would be a lot more convincing, if they weren’t finding these organisms they think aren’t from earth, on earth.

It would be more convincing if they didn’t say this life originated in space. lol. How does a life form “evolve” in the cold vacuum of space?

I think I have found extraterrestrial life in my cats' litter box.

It's for sale to anyone from JPL or Stanford...and/or will exchange for a reasonably new Jeep Wrangler.

Researchers at the University of Sheffield sent a scientific balloon into the stratosphere — often described as the edge of space — during a Perseid meteor shower, which collected small organisms they believe are not from Earth.

So they collect organisms living in earth's atmosphere and pronounce that they are not from earth.

Its Science!

Of course, I'll be a little more impressed when they find them in a comet or an asteroid. Or some space dust collected out beyond earth orbit. Or scooped out of some Martian sand (though, careful that they didn't hitchhike there with the lander).

That’s science for ya: “very very confident” is more than just “very confident”. Alas, it is less than “ very very very confident”

Mea culpa about the “unnamed” British university; University of Sheffield.
