House to Vote on Defunding ObamaCare as Law’s Unpopularity Reaches New High

Americans “continue to adamantly oppose” the president’s health care law, according to several surveys showing disapproval at a “record high.”  With ObamaCare’s implementation set to begin in just two weeks, families and small business owners are right to be concerned.  Here’s a look at why Americans fear this train wreck of a law, and why House Republicans will vote to defund it, giving the Senate and president the opportunity to protect all Americans from its disastrous consequences:

Far from the president’s promise to “bend the cost curve,” numerous states – from California to Ohio, and most recently Wisconsin - report that health insurance rates on the individual market will skyrocket.  According to a National Journal analysis, “for the vast majority of Americans, premium prices will be higher,” and insurance companies have already told small business owners to expect premium increases of 20 percent or more, “making some owners consider not paying for coverage” at all, says the Associated Press

That concern is well-placed.  The Wall Street Journal reports today that “Walgreen Co. is set to become one of the largest employers yet to make sweeping changes” to its health care plan, citing “rising health-care costs” and “compliance-related expenses associated with the new law” as the reason it’s no longer providing coverage through the company for roughly 160,000 of its employees.  Trader Joe’s has also informed employees that it will be cutting their health care and moving part-time workers to the exchanges. Cincinnati-based Kroger foods recently announced it would “cut health care coverage for workers’ spouses,” joining UPS and others in what “could become a model for companies nationwide.”  And “America’s biggest employers, from GE to IBM” are “increasingly moving retirees to insurance exchanges,” Bloomberg reports, “an historic shift that could push more costs onto U.S. taxpayers.”

With more than 250 companies reporting that they have cut jobs and hours due to ObamaCare, American families are already feeling the negative effects of the president’s health care law.  It’s “perplexing small businesses and manufacturers alike (not to mention the Obama administration itself), forcing them to put off expanding and hiring, and transforming the workforce into a “part-time nation.”

At a press conference earlier today announcing plans to vote on defunding the law, Speaker Boehnera> noted that “the president has signed seven bills over the last two and a half years to make changes to ObamaCare,” adding that this latest vote will give the Senate the opportunity to make it eight.  Hopefully, for the sake of American families and small businesses, they’ll do just that.

(1) Pass a BUDGET, not a fricking "Continuing Resolution", but an honest-to-goodness budget that excludes Obamacare and abolishes multiple departments, agencies, commissions, grants, foreign aid, etc. so we can get back to restoring our fiscal house.

(2) Senate and Obama will wail - LET THEM. Pass a budget and then send your members home. Hold a press conference stating that the ball is in Obama's court.

The best way to fix a broken system is to SHUT IT DOWN, and THEN fix it.

Speaker Newt SHUT DOWN the US Federal Government in the 1990’s and it WORKED!

Clinton then took credit for balanced Federal Budgets, fewer people were in poverty, and all because Newt said NO !

The Liberal Agenda Media and the Democrats boo-hooed to this day, but Newt achieved success.

The worst punishment that a Democrat, or RINO can imagine is to take away their ability to spend our tax dollars.

The best way to do that is to shutdown the non-essental parts of the US Federal Government, starting with mothballing Air Force One.

Why not have the true Republicans require a BINDING, updated, “Federal Financial Impact Statement” for 2012-2013 fiscal year, and 2013-2014 f. y. for Obama”care?”

It should take a month or two to complete, allow for a vote to delay Obama”care” for a year, and then show the great financial harm to our Economy that the Statement’s numbers will document.

Wharton, Stanford, Michigan and Princeton could also file their independent Financial Impact Statements to compare to the Office of Budget and the Congressional Budget Office Financial Impact Statements.

As B. Hussein is fond of saying: “We need to get all the facts first.”

The 2.3% Medical Excise Tax that began on January 1st is supposed to be “hidden” from the consumer, but it’s been brought to the public’s attention by hunting and fishing store Cabela’s who have refused to hide it and are showing it as a separate line item tax on their receipts, the email states.

I did some research and found directly from the IRS’s website information that PROVES this to be true and an accurate portrayal of something hidden in Obamacare that I was not aware of! Now being skeptical of this I went to the IRS website and found this!

Q1. What is the medical device excise tax?

A1. Section 4191 of the Internal Revenue Code imposes an excise tax on the sale of certain medical devices by the manufacturer or importer of the device.

Q2. When does the tax go into effect?

A2. The tax applies to sales of taxable medical devices after Dec. 31, 2012.

Q3. How much is the tax?

A3. The tax is 2.3 percent of the sale price of the taxable medical device. See Chapter 5 of IRS Publication 510, Excise Taxes, and Notice 2012-77 for additional information on the determination of sale price.

IRS.gov Chapter Fivehttp://www.irs.gov/publications/p510/ch05.html

So being more curious I clicked on “Chapter 5
Of IRS Publication 510.”

And what do I find under “MEDICAL DEVICES” under “MANUFACTURERS TAXES”?

The following discussion of manufacturers taxes

Applies to the tax on:

Sport fishing equipment;

Fishing rods and fishing poles;

Electric outboard motors;

Fishing tackle boxes;

Bows, quivers, broadheads, and points;

Arrow shafts;

Coal;

Taxable tires;

Gas guzzler automobiles; and

Vaccines.

I NEVER KNEW THAT A TIRE IS A MEDICAL DEVICE.

IRS.gov I think we have definitely been fooled, if we believe that the Affordable Care Act is all about health care. It Truly does appear to be nothing more than a bill Laden with a whole lot of taxes that we the people have yet to be aware of.

I am still incredulous that this can go on. I guess it’s just like Nancy Pelosi said…….

We have to pass it to see what is in it .What is next? What else is there we do not know about? I am sick to death about our government……all of them!!!!!!

God help us.

Why have a huge budget bill anyways? Send a bunch of smaller bills funding the most important departments of Government first and if ZeroCare is not one of them, well , too bad.

This Bill was shoved down the American People's throat by one Party using every trick in the book.

The American People do not want it.

Obama thinks his election means otherwise, but he won because Romney created the same system in Mass.

Wait, did somebody buy Boner a testicle? He said “the House will pass a CR that defunds Obamacare”! None of his normal mealy-mouthing about how they can’t do this or can’t do that.
