Chipotle's Kinda Brilliant Brave New World Propaganda Film for Chicken Tortilla Soup
Ace of Spades HQ ^ | 9/18/2013 | Ace

Posted on 09/18/2013 3:02:56 PM PDT by JerseyanExile

David Harsanyi calls it "preposterous," which I suppose is true enough, but then, it's an advertisement...

It's not so much that the ad is preposterous as that it's so... Ruthless. The ad essentially calls all of Chipotle's competitors murderers and pedophiles. It really pushes the line as far as disparaging competitors. It's one thing to do a cooked-up Taste Test. But this employs all the tricks of the greatest propaganda medium ever created -- moving pictures + sound -- and mixes them together with what Harsanyi suggests is food paranoia to attack all fast-food rivals as monsters.

I find it interesting in a science-fiction way: Will this be how advertising is done in the future? Basically the fast-food commercial equivalent of the infamous Daisy Ad?

Probably! Why not. We are constantly bombarded with huckster messaging. We tune it all out. To get attention, you have do a message really well, and it helps to go outrageous and dark and vicious with it.

Frankly, the ad is beautiful, but the bizarre thing is that if Crow Foods represents anyone, it’s Chipotle’s owner, McDonald’s.

McDonalds hasn’t owned a share of Chipolte for a while now.

They were an early investor, but actually got out before Chipolte took off.

It’s not really an ad. It seems to be a video that is circulating on the internet and can be downloaded. It does take shots at C’s competitors, but lots of corporate advertising does. There is a lot more going on right now to get worked up about than this.

Very well done bit of animation. Doesn’t do a thing to make me want to eat their product, but credit where it’s due.

Since they came out as pro-sodomites and yanked over $4k in sponsorship to a Scout event in Utah this year, just before the BSA caved to the sodomites, I could care less what Chipotle does. All I know is they’re pro-homo.

I will never darken their doorway.

But now that the mormons helped pushed the BSA over the edge and endorse sodomy, I wonder if Chipotle will reverse their position next year?

Don’t choke on your 30 pieces SLC, BSA and Chipotle.

Liberals are so lucky. They get to have their worldview reflected back at them in so many artful ways by the general media.

Yeah, where IS the ad? I couldn’t find it, despite there being some imaginative animation links, they didn’t seem to have anything to do with Chipotle.

The food the scare crow serves at the end looks vaguely Mexican.

Chipotle doesn’t come close to Mission Burrito.

I’d rather eat at Moe’s. Chipotle is so industrial inside.
