Northern Virginia business group makes Cuccinelli endorsement official

The Northern Virginia Technology Council’s political arm on Monday formally announced its endorsement of Ken Cuccinelli II in the Virginia governor’s race despite an aggressive behind-the-scenes attempt by supporters of his Democratic opponent, Terry McAuliffe, to wrest the prize away.

In addition to backing the Republican nominee for governor, NVTC’s TechPAC also voted to endorse the Democratic nominee for attorney general, Sen. Mark R. Herring (Loudoun), over Sen. Mark D. Obenshain (R-Harrisonburg), according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the formal announcement is to be made later this week. The TechPAC has not generally weighed in on lieutenant governor races.

NVTC’s TechPAC, whose 25-member bipartisan board includes top executives from many sectors of the technology industry, voted to endorse Cuccinelli on Thursday after conducting lengthy interviews of both candidates. Several board members said Cuccinelli, the commonwealth’s attorney general, came off as serious and even wonky while discussing policies of importance to the group, while McAuliffe seemed flippant and uninformed.

But the formal announcement was delayed until Monday after McAuliffe supporters and some NVTC officials who have not made up their minds in the race pushed for the council’s executive committee to reconsider the endorsement. Several said they were most concerned about backing Cuccinelli because some of his positions on social issues, such as his hostility to gay rights, could send a message that Virginia is not a welcoming place to do business

Terry and company really have hurt themselves with the fiasco over this endorsement. Good to see Ken catching a break.

My disdain for the gop knows few bounds. But Ken is just an awesome, awesome conservative and a good man besides. And he is running against such a dirtbag.

Pray for VA.

So far this has been a nasty race BUT when you figure the guy from the CLINTON/EMMANUEL -— Obama camp is probably the one that started the BS in regards to the ‘scandals’ in the Governors Office which surprisingly?? trickled down to Cuccinelli and bypassed Bolling (I wasn’t sure for a while that Bolling wasn’t the force behind that but deep inside figured it was the LIB’s.

Macaulife is also the one who supposedly financed Clintoons house in NY also - till he got caught and had to back out.. Clintoons fared pretty well though wrangling the Fed Govt (US) out of the mortgage for his ‘home’ etc.....

We need some help getting the word out as to what a sleaze TM really is - KC can’t -’they’ will accuse him of slinging mud — that coming from one of the classic mud slingers....

Then tell them to take their endorsement and shove it up their rectum

I can believe that given the MudCat endorsement. This election is going to be about who shows up to the polls and I don’t see this being anything like 2012.

It doesn’t but notice how they try so hard to make everything about acceptance of sodomy?

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve never met Ken but he is a humble genuine man in my experience. He’d be filthy rich if he were a crook. Its good to see someone in politics who isn’t there just to lift themselves up or because they see it as a way to enrich themselves.

Bolling is playing the scorned would be paramour. It was a real surprise for me because I had no idea that he was not what he appeared to be. I always thought he was a good conservative. He was there at the Palin rallies. There is nothing like sour grapes to ruin a man. I hope he comes around and does the right thing and endorses Cuccinelli.

Pbama’s Acorn machine will be cranking out the votes in Virginia this election too.

It will help him in the 2014 House elections to do so. Good for morale and momentum (in the media).

Pitiful to see business sending money to McAuliffe hopimg to benefit from his cronyism.
Cooch needs that money and will do better by them by running an honest, helpful government.

Well, there could be fewer beauty salons and designer studios coming to VA when Cuccinelli wins.

It didn’t work in 2010 and I don’t see it working this year. No one loves Terry and Sarvis votes will break Cuccinelli on election day. Obama voters don’t turn out without Obama.

2010 was an uprising.
The odds are in favor of the vote machine in 2014.

Obama- and the whole Dem Party- desperately need to break the House.

The fear is that anti sodomy laws would supposedly make Virginia look bad for people who want to to business - that is the allegation. Obviously, it is bullcrap media hysterics, but unfortunately people do buy it. I actually have had political discussions with university students and profs here, when the subject comes up about Ken, they all say that he’s a Taliban fascist type who wants to invade the personal, private lives of gays and lesbians and anyone who is suspected of adultery. I am sure this is basically due to media distortions as usual, but unfortunately, a lot of people have
