Elizabeth O’Bagy, the Syria researcher at the center of a week-long controversy surrounding her academic credentials and her work with the Syrian opposition, admitted for the first time to The Daily Beast she was never enrolled in a Ph.D. program despite representations she made to the press and multiple organizations for whom she worked.

I’m not one to worship credentials, what matters is someone’s knowledge, experience, and judgment.... but still, when someone fakes credentials that always reflects badly upon ..... knowledge, experience, and judgment.

There are three curious pieces to this story. First, she actually did have a bachelors and masters degree. No argument over that. Second, by European standards....it’s hard to claim a status as an “expert” unless you have that doctor title with you. I think this is bogus and there are thousands of experts in the US who never attended college, or simply have a two-year degree from some community college. Third....it would be nice to know where exactly she made this decision to call herself “doctor”, and if this was related to some political appointment of sorts.

She’s another example of somebody who got by not with knowledge, but by telling people what they wanted to hear.
The damage has been done. Her bizarre claim that the al Qaeda atrocity committing anti Christian rebels are a moderate credible alternative to Assad is now embedded in the US government and the MSM working consensus on Syria. Once a lie becomes accepted, inept strategically disastrous policy follows.
Remember Mark Fuhrman’s lying about using the “N Word” in the OJ Trial? His subsequent testimony was thusly declared null and void. O’Bagy told a real whopper about her academic accomplishments. Therefore, her Syrian Reporting is also highly suspect? A liar is a liar is a liar!
This reminds me of the old Three Stooges gag. Is there a doctor in the house?
In all seriousness, this is the sad state we now find ourselves. Last week, it appeared that she had a doctorate dissertation in that she was in the process of defending. In other words, she was on her way to getting the sheepskin. Now, we find out that it was a total fabrication. Shame on her. I’m guessing she did it for the same reason a lot of Americans do it. To get a job they want.
Personally, I don’t care how much research she does on Syria. While the situation is tragic and sad, it does not mean America should be getting involved militarily.

I’m curious. If this woman’s statements, based on her “expertise”, influenced government policy and MSM reporting of the “news” how many deaths can be claimed to begin with her and because of her?

Or worse, “Kerry lied, HOPE died.”
This liar and degenerate isn’t “embattled”. She is an admitted liar.
If Obama can be President and Elizabeth Warren can be a US Senator, then standards are already gone.... it’s true.
So they were going to lie us into war. Just makes Putin look more like the good guy in this conflict.
Makes you wonder how many other policy decisions have been influenced by fraudulent “experts.”
