Navy Yard shooting: AR-15, back in the news -- briefly
CNN ^ | 9/17/2013 | Ben Brumfield, CNN

It has been called the most popular rifle in America, and it's back in the spotlight after Monday's shooting at the Navy Yard: The AR-15.

Authorities said when Aaron Alexis unleashed a barrage of bullets Monday, he was carrying a rifle and a handgun. But he did most of the shooting with the weapon used in so many other rampages that shocked the nation:

List of 4 other shootings.

< SNIP>

With Monday's incident, the gun will likely be in the crosshairs again. And again, it's likely nothing will change.

The gun-grabbers were already Twittering about this BS yesterday, before the incident was even over. Now, the "opinion pieces" and "editorials" will start again, and "Lunch Bucket Joe" Biden will probably resurrect his "shotgun theory" of firing-off 2 from the balcony.

Even though the America-hating lib-dem idiots and RINO traitors don't have the votes to kill our precious 2nd Amendment, this tragedy will be played for all the can get out of it.

Bad, bad AR-15!

Guess I’m finally going to have to break down and buy one before it’s too late.

Wait! I thought he was found with a shotgun and a handgun? Which one of these is now an AR-15?

Ban libs, too.

Guns kill people, pencils misspell words, cars drive drunk & spoons make you fat.

I guarantee you if others were allowed to carry his death spree would have been ended rather quickly.

The Adam Lanzas of the world are probably lined-up and buying it by the bagloads. Not being a video game player, I don’t know what the attraction is.

The AR-15 and the pistol were taken from law-enforcement guards in the facility.

Do they intend to ban AR-15's in the hands of law enforcement, too?

To: carriage_hill; All

My local news in Fort Worth is saying he entered the ship yard with a shotgun then stole someone’s AR.

They’re not even reporting *how* he got it; just that he *had* it. The facts don’t matter.

Okay. Ban any Government employee from having an AR issued as a weapon.

My understanding is that he acquired the weapon from someone he had killed with a sawed off shotgun and that someone was a LEO of some sorts which means it was probably an M16, not an AR15. I could be wrong but if I’m not, we need to nip this in the bud. There’s a big difference between AR15 and M16 and we shouldn’t allow the media to further disparage the AR15 if an AR15 wasn’t actually used.

Better hurry; my local FFL said yesterday (when he called about my Beowulf .50 cal being “modified” and ready to pick-up), that he expects an upsurge in demand and price.
