More Than 2,000 Still at Navy Yard (FBI screening for 'second shooter')
The Washington Post ^ | Monday, September 16, 2013 | Aaron Davis

Posted on 09/16/2013 6:22:54 PM PDT by kristinn

Vice Adm. Bill French, the head of all Navy installations, said as of 8:30 p.m. that roughly 2,000 civilians remained at Navy Yard and that it could take until 11 p.m. or later to finish processing them off the base.

In addition, French said that the number of wounded stands at 14. All are civilians, he said.

Removal of the employees was painfully slow, because the FBI is still interviewing every person leaving the base out of concern that a second suspect may still be at large.

And SWAT teams are still finding people hiding in places on the base, where they have remain hunkered down since the initial attack early this morning. One city officials said that shortly before 7 p.m., officers found an employee hiding in a locker, where the employee had been for nearly 11 hours.

Undersecretary for the Navy, Juan Garcia, said the Navy Yard would reopen tomorrow for essential personnel only. Most employees would be encouraged to telecommute. Garcia said it was unclear who the base would reopen in its entirety.

Garcia said the Navy has set up a counseling line for anyone struggling to cope with Monday’s attack. That number is 1-800-222-0364.

Is that so? Are the victims all white? I missed that, although i did see references to the shooter targeting specific targets. Media probably didn’t have the guts to say he was targeting white people.

He lived in White Settlement, Texas, at one time and may very well have had a permit in Texas at some point in time, particularly since he was in the military. I would think that this issue will be clarified in pretty short order by Texas officials.

The presence of two persons would be criminal conspiracy. But to speculate on such participation (and the motive) is branded “conspiracy talk”.

The government hasn’t ruled it out yet.

You’re government couldn’t find a single motorcyclist last week when Washington D.C. had close to a Million in town.

If something like this occured every week, how long before the US gov’t collapses? police had to have spent tens of thousands on this already. Insurance and liability, security screening, lost productivity could easily push this into the millions. Then there’s the trial.

How long could America survive a slow burn by a few hundred armed terrorists?

You are asking that the wrong way. How long could/would the government survive while protecting our countries enemies before WE wipe out all the muzzies here? I could give two shits about the government; the less there is of fedzilla, the better for me. The less muzzies in this country, the better for my offspring long term...

When the horse is out of the barn, count on cops to make it tough on the citizenry. Somehow, they've got to show they're on the job. Pathetic.

Remember Columbine when they had the hostages march out with their hands over their heads? That really riled a lot of people.

Fans might remember that the show is based at the DC Naval Shipyard too.

Wouldn't NCIS be principal investigator on this, given: the location, the victims and the shooter?

Death of a country by a thousand lashes. Few cities and states could afford the cost of this terrible action or the Boston Marathon.

This is how Obozo can kill this country each day by allowing actions like this to happen. Then, allowing his lawyers to suck the wealth of our cities, counties, and states dry with long and expensive trials.

Out here in Californicator Land, the legal costs of crimes committed by illegal and the mentally ill is tremendous, and it gets worse each day.

“They say the dead shooter was Buddhist, but I think he had been drinking at the Allah ach-bar.”

Maybe his deep cover was appearing to be a Buddhist.

In our 4 decades in California, we have met a few Buddhists. None would register any threat to any of us.

“Why haven’t we popped Zawahiri by now?”

That is an excellent question.

Seems like the NSA and CIA should spend some time focusing on locating the real dangerous al Qaeda thugs and whack them, instead of focusing on conservative Americans.
