Obama waives ban on arming terrorists to allow aid to Syrian opposition

President Obama waived a provision of federal law designed to prevent the supply of arms to terrorist groups to clear the way for the U.S. to provide military assistance to "vetted" opposition groups fighting Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

Some elements of the Syrian opposition are associated with radical Islamic terrorist groups, including al Qaeda, which was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pa., in 2001. Assad's regime is backed by Iran and Hezbollah.

The president, citing his authority under the Arms Export Control Act, announced today that he would "waive the prohibitions in sections 40 and 40A of the AECA related to such a transaction."

Those two sections prohibit sending weaponry to countries described in section 40(d): "The prohibitions contained in this section apply with respect to a country if the Secretary of State determines that the government of that country has repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism," Congress stated in the Arms Control Export Act.

How about the arms he already gave them before his unlawful tyrannical waiver?

Impeachable? Yes.

Money and ammo are both fungible. There is no such thing as arming only the non-terrorist side of this thing in Syria.

While this may make sense to 0bama's more monarchical followers, his "waiving" bits of established federal law that tend to get in the way of his programs is at the least questionable and at the most outrageously unconstitutional. Not that it will stop him.

The press should be screaming and it isn't. Congress should be criticizing bitterly and it isn't. And so it is quite out in the open now: 0bama will sell whatever he likes to whomever he announces is "vetted", and we have already seen what his idea of non-terrorist is - those would be the ones with the decapitation knives. Why bother to write laws at all?

Obummer never hesitates to waive a law he doesn’t agree with, now he chooses to arm enemy terrorists.

Impeach the bastard.

"vetted" opposition groups fighting Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

Yeah, that's the ticket, investigate Al Qaeda. Another Zip Pinhead "brilliant" suggestion.

1. How can anyone investigate an unknown in a foreign country in 2 or 3 days?
2. Who has the authority to request probable non-existant records on these Arabs with an IQ of 75?

So we are arming terrorists who have killed Americans and will kill them again with the approval of POTUS with cover from some of the GOP. What happened after 9-11-01? We have been conquered from within.

Aiding and abetting and they need to start impeaching as soon as the first weapons arrive.

I don’t understand “waiving” of law. Well, more precisely, I don’t understand the majority opposition party’s compete testicular enervation in light of it.

It’s ok to ship arms to known terrorists. But it is imperative to restrict arms to American citizens.

You got it first. Hell with impeachment, charge him and jail him. And any one who follows these orders. If I was Isreal I would be threatening to bomb the U.S.
