A new Utah polygamous family on reality TV [more normalizing deviancy]

Brady Williams has five wives, 24 children but no organized religion.

The newest polygamous family from Utah on reality TV considers itself progressive and independent. Williams and his wives slowly withdrew from the fundamentalist Mormon church in their rural community outside of Salt Lake City during the mid-2000s after re-evaluating their core beliefs.

The family no longer teaches the tenets of fundamental Mormonism to their children at home, opting instead to take from other teachings such as Buddhism to instill good, morale values in their two dozen children, who range in age from 2-20.

"Since we have left the religion, it's now about love and it's about commitment, and it's about happiness as a family," said Brady Williams, 43, a project manager in his brother's construction business. "It's not about the fear of hell or the promise of heaven."

It wasn't the first time Brady Williams has crossed religious lines. As a teenager, his parents left mainstream Mormonism and joined polygamy. He said that transition was very difficult, but not as hard as leaving the fundamentalist church his five wives all grew up in.

Gross violation of federal law. Why is this guy not going to jail?

I’m not really surprised. I figure polygamy will be the next big “redefining marriage” battle. To play Devil’s Advocate for a moment, if two men can be married, why not a man and two women? I mean, the argument is “love is love” right?

Of course, many of the pro-gay marriage talking heads pooh-pooh such talk, as (in their view) it’s not a constitutional issue with polygamists. But such things are not decided strictly in terms of constitutional law. There is the court of public opinion, and the consequences involved with the undermining of the strength and meaning of a concept through an ever-expanding definition. In this case, marriage.

I’m not sure it should be labeled deviant. Most early Bible characters had many wives, and young ones to boot.
I’d be more inclined to label polygamy as illegal.

From TFA:

> Brady Williams said the increasing social and legal acceptance of gay marriage has helped society open up toward plural marriage.

What more proof does anyone want, that this is all part of a larger plan to undermine traditional values across the board???

Won’t be long and the libs (demodummies) will start to push for this life style along with all the homo and deviant laws they pushed down America’s throat. Pretty soon there will be exemption for the number of wives each person has. (Note I said “person” since the gay’s can call males or females wives.)

I think they really meant morale values. I see no sign of moral values there.

Really only one has a marriage license the others just had a ceremony. That is why he is not in jail.

Wrong argument: the politically-correct argument is: Muslims do it, so it’s fine. . . .

How is this arrangement inferior to ‘baby daddies’ having a dozen women and two dozen children dependent on taxpayers?

If he is feeding & supporting all these ‘wives’ and offspring - perhaps he could start a national movement for atheists and other liberals.

After all, marriage between one man and one woman is so passé.

If he hadn't married the mothers and the children were scattered all over the ghetto this would be considered normal and government funded.

I believe the ultimate goal of all the perverts is to get rid of age restrictions so they can have unfettered access to children.

you can bet 4 of the wives are on the dole. They may be immoral but they’re not stupid.

William James said it first and said it best:

Higamous hogamous, women are monogamous.

Hogamous higamous, men are polygamous.

Well, they got their gay marriage. Next stop, polygamous marriage. Final stop, pedophiliac marriage.
