The Obamacare bomb - The scheme is about to blow up the incentive to work
Washington Times ^ | Sept 9, 2013

A mere three weeks remain before the Obamacare exchanges open for business. The likely result will be the closing doors on Main Street, as shopkeepers and entrepreneurs shut down, unable to make ends meet. It’s clear that the wounded economy can’t cope with the exploding costs ahead.

Ohio announced that premiums would rise in the individual market by an average of 88 percent next year. Premiums will rise 72 percent in Indiana, 125 percent in Wisconsin. Even California, with its relatively robust individual market, is bracing for increases of 66 percent.

The Obamacare train wreck bearing down on us is about far more than higher costs. A study by University of Chicago economist Casey B. Mulligan documents the perverse Obamacare incentives that encourage Americans to become much less productive. He estimates that the legislation acts as a payroll tax increase for about half the working, non-elderly population earning an average weekly wage. Obamacare will turn those who work hard into losers, declaring part-timers the winners.

A typical family of four with an income of up to $94,200 will get a generous subsidy for health insurance if the head of the house drops out of full-time work and becomes a part-timer. It’s an implicit payroll tax increase of almost 5 percent. The net result is a reduction in productivity throughout the economy.

Imposing a large new tax will persuade many that long hours are for suckers. Many will decide that it isn’t worth the effort and drop out of the work force. Why work full-time to see the money taxed away? Better to work fewer hours and keep the same after-tax income.

Obamacare imposes additional pressure on bosses to move employees to part-time status to avoid large penalties by the IRS. Businesses and some public-sector employers have begun slashing their employees’...

None of us, and certainly not the Republic, will survive that long.

Large companies will be 'assessed' $64 per family member of every employee in the company... money sent to the Government as a donation to the cause so to speak - on top of any health care costs....

The perverse incentive of this gem is to make companies choose - all other things being equal - the man or woman with the fewest dependents.

In a country that's importing warm bodies to keep the population going - this incentive will discourage some of the most productive in the United States from having children.

The key question is : will this develope a 'new class' of people dependant on "entitlements" be enough to overturn the working class ?
People prefer to get freebies

And those are just the doctors...

When enough doctors quit - the 'crisis' will be solved by having lay people who don't know crap about medicine giving medical care. Might not need those death panels after all - incompetence might 'solve' the problem of too many grandparents...

“... only some of those over 70 still use them...”

That’s me FRiend and there’s a lot like me around here. You are right of course and the white pages have shrunk too because of cell phones. With the Shuttle demise along with related businesses, it’s tough here on the Florida Space Coast but it will come back in time, it always has. Private enterprise is going to take over the space program.

I wonder how the Sharks will describe Obamacare regulation and how it will cut into their profit.

Except for the fact that it's on (I think) hardcore Lefty NBC, that would actually be a really good venue to discuss Obamacare in terms of deal structure and "who benefits", that the People could appreciate and use.

It's an education itching to happen.

“The citizens of this country are going to make Democrats’ lives a real nightmare after the pain hits home.”

I sure as hell hope so!

I refuse to even knowingly speak to these democrat maggots. Last September I disowned 3 step sisters and a brother-in-law. They are dead to me and I told them as much.

Fortunately, I am retired and not forced to share air with democrats in a work environment.

ONe can only hope. (But those scu*bags will find a way to blame the Constitution, the Tea Party, the Founding Fathers, and all those knuckle-dragging Christian morons/s/ out there. )

I've got family members who I'm fairly certain I'll never speak to again, except for the passing 'hello' at a relative's funeral. The divisions now run that deep.

In my opinion it will blow up but not go away...Dems will never give up control over their sheeples lives

Medical care in this country will fall into three categories:

People stuck in Obamacare
Retires on Medicare
Working people who can afford to join Concierge medical services

The first two will be worse or as bad as Britain medical system

Concierge medical services will be the future as doctors who are done with the federal government running their lives will practice like in the old days...

As an example: Annual cost up front: $3,000 to $5,000 to join or be a patient
All services provided at a reasonable cost...

Overhead cost drop like a stone, malpractice insurance rates are driven down as you get to pick your patients...No insurance company dictating who you can and can not do

It's coming...already is here in spots across the country

The Founders also strongly advised against Universal Suffrage, and did not put the right to vote in the Constitution for a reason, precisely because morons and the balllot box don’t mix, and result in things like Obamacare and the income tax

When California Obot voters like my sister and her cop husband see their health care costs rise 66% in one year, there’s going to be hell to pay at the ballot box and in the press.

The citizens of this country are going to make Democrats’ lives a real nightmare after the pain hits home.

Kenyancare is not imploding on its own. Plenty of big money GOP donors are thrilled at the idea of getting health care off their books. The poodles in the GOP will do their bidding and offer to “fix it”. Obamacare will be a bipartisan FUBAR in the not too distant future. Then what we do?

Don’t you think people just won’t buy/provide the insurance and pay the fines, which are pretty cheap at this point.

Long sob story short, I lost my insurance (and job) this year. I’ll look at the coverage available for me and hubby, but hey, as ever you can’t get blood from a stone.

Boy is the Obama look-back going to be embarrasing for his fans in the media. I think they’re the only “base” he has left.

“It won’t be repealed but replaced by single payer. That was the plan to begin with.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Yes, anyone who had a clue knew from the start that Obamacare was never intended to work. It was passed into law by people who voted for it without any idea what was in it, what kind of fool would do that if he really wanted it to work? It was intended to pave the way for single payer by exploiting the tendency of dumbed down Americans to vote for a government solution to a problem created in the first place by government. Americans need to learn that government thrives by creating problems and pretending to offer a solution, not by actually ever solving a problem.

It will be repealed when the majority of voters, especially the low-information dolts who vote for the Rats election after election, finally figure out how bad it is and vote for candidates who WILL repeal it.

It’ll be repealed when the EBT cards flash ERROR. These LIV only live for the moment. tomorrow is just an abstract concept to them.

The Obamacare bomb is about to blow up the incentive to work

No surprise. That was one of "transformational Obama's" campaign themes.

In the 2008 campaign the Obamas even talked down the “American dream”---the idea that you should work hard and get ahead. The Obamas encouraged people to work for non-profits and volunteer---- instead of having ambition---to get jobs and succeed the American way. They called it “middleclassism” or something Marxist like that.

==============================================

Moreover, Progressive Obama does not view Syria as a failure---his only regret is that so many others do. Transformational Ohaha WANTS the US to decline as a superpower.....and has worked toward that goal. Lib/progs are "uncomfortable" w/ the US as a global power....meandering all over the globe to work its will.

Fire 90% of Congress and get some people in there who will clean up Obama's mess. When the pain comes home, the anger among the voting public will be bi-partisan and so will the solution.
