Embattled Syria analyst vouched for rebel group that depicted burning US Capitol (O'Bagy)

Elizabeth O’Bagy, a pro-Syrian opposition analyst whose credibility has come under fire, might have even more explaining to do – as court documents show she once vouched for a rebel group whose website displayed extremist and anti-American images.

Among the pictures was one showing a burning U.S. Capitol.

O’Bagy was fired earlier this week by the Institute for the Study of War for allegedly lying about her academic credentials. Her writings had been used by U.S. officials to bolster their case for military action against the Assad regime.

O’Bagy discussed the rebel group in question in a June 19, 2013 signed affidavit filed in the case of American Eric Harroun, who was indicted for fighting alongside the terror group al-Nusra in Syria.

O’Bagy’s signed declaration, which included a breakdown of rebel groups and their varying degrees of affiliation to Al Qaeda-linked terrorists, was used by Harroun’s defense to argue that the former Army medic had actually fought with a splinter group and not a terrorist one – a group tied to the one O’Bagy described.

In the document, O’Bagy said she had reviewed the apparent Facebook page for the Al Aqsa Islamic Brigades, and found no signs of jihadist leanings.

My guess is one is near-sighted and the other far-sighted. He may not have binocular vision. So he may use the “stronger” eye, depending on the distance to the object viewed, to focus with and the other becomes “lazy.”

I agree that it’s not just obama. It was going on long before obama was ushered in.

Maggief: Did you read this affadavit?

O'Bagy Affadavit

Fox missed something--- "Previously I was a Senior Research Analyst at the Institute For the Study of War where I specilized in Syrian politicss and security."

Affadavit signed June 19, 2013

Not only did Kimberly Kagan have prior knowledge that O'Bagy did NOT have a PhD, she also knew (sent out?) O'Bagy to propagandize Congress and the MSM with lies about the strength and numbers of Syrian rebel "moderates."

And... to emphasize...what is this?!!!

"Previously I was a Senior Research Analyst at the Institute For the Study of War where I specialized in Syrian politicss and security."

ISW, et al, bear close scrutiny. We now have THREE reasons O'Bagy was thrown under the bus by ISW, not the least of which is that her "research" was being exposed as a lie.

“We now have THREE reasons O’Bagy was thrown under the bus by ISW, not the least of which is that her “research” was being exposed as a lie.”

Interesting. Thanks for the ping, thouworm. Could the FOURTH be tied to the State Department?

O’Bagy was hailed as a ‘brilliant’ researcher but didn’t have the 411 on the Kagan’s? Or, that Robert Kagan is married to State Department’s Victoria Nuland??

Q. Was O’Bagy introduced to Kim Kagan through Nuland?

http://swampland.time.com/2013/09/17/the-rise-and-fall-of-elizabeth-obagy/

O’Bagy graduated from Georgetown with a bachelors degree in Arabic and went to live in Cairo for two years before returning to Washington to seek her masters and PhD from her alma mater in Arabic Studies. At the end of 2011 she began an internship with the Institute.

(snip)

O’Bagy, a registered Democrat who voted twice for Obama, admits now that she was naïve about the Institute and Kim and her husband Fred Kagan.

Prior to ISW, she received a Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic in Tangier Morocco and studied Arabic at the American University in Cairo.”

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Let me broaden the question as follows...

Q. Was O’Bagy introduced to Kim Kagan through the State Department (and/or Nuland)?

Yes, she claims she was "naive" about the Kagans, which is laughable at best. How is it even remotely possible that she was unaware of Robert Kagan/Victoria Nuland? She was apparently high up enough on the ISW food chain to be chosen as a public face for them but not privy to what would be the equivalent of water-cooler chat about Kagan and Nuland?

And Kim Kagan, hailed as a super-researcher herself, was duped by O'Bagy's claim the she had been awarded her doctorate. Just took her word for it, don'tcha know.

What a nest of vipers.

Kagan founded the Institute for the Study of War only in 2007; she apparently hired a whole staff of scribblers to generate propaganda. It would not take much for O’Bagy to simply have applied for a job there if she wanted to break into that field.

Kagan’s “Institute” is largely funded by the defense industry, which sees her intimate ties with top military brass as a good thing to toss some money at.

Kagan and her husband were actually key on-site advisors to top generals in Iraq and Afghanistan and were given access to the most secret military intelligence available to the staffs of the generals.

They also actually can use, on the other “end”, their political connections to hold considerable sway over the generals they “advise”.

They are part of the “team” working for new world order that helps create and extend wars.

O’Bagy appears to be simply a member of Kagan’s team that was quite expendable, though, as long as she is loyal I presume she could always switch jobs and continue her “career”. Perhaps her family background is nwo, perhaps not, I have not found much. Either way, at this point, she’s just a scribbling minion.

Kagan is the one who married into the Kagan “Yale” new world order family, who can thus float around and continue working for nwo her whole life, managing the work of others.

Victoria Nuland attended Brown University (nwo), and married Robert Kagan, who attended Yale like his father Donald.

Nuland’s father, however, also attended Yale.

This puts Victoria up pretty high on the “Yale scale” of new world order, since she’s a Yale child herself and also married a Yale child. This is why she can work at a high level State Department job. Such jobs are reserved for only people considered reliable by new world order (that is, they will cover up anything necessary), so mostly this means at least 2nd generation new world order operatives.

O’Bagy, with her lies about her PhD, is just starting out in her new world order career. She can be used, then, to write lies about something like Syria.

Hawks in Congress used her writings to push for attacking Syria.

Because O’Bagy has her resume lie hanging over her head, she is controllable. And if O’Bagy’s writings get found out as lies, she could simply be outed for lying about her PhD, as she was, which deflects all criticism of Congressmen and the Kagans and their propaganda firm, this “War Institute”, dumps all the criticism on the expendable O’Bagy, who “takes one for the team”.

The “reputation” amongst DC elites and the presss of this “Institute for the Study of War” and the Kagans is what is to be maintained, which is easily done by ditching O’Bagy at this moment. She can be “recycled” and go to work elsewhere and be used again years down the road once these news stories age, but for now she’s “on the bench”.
