Calls grow for runner-up to leave NYC mayor race

Calls for runner-up Bill Thompson to bow out of the New York Democratic mayoral race grew louder Thursday, as several of his prominent supporters switched allegiances to front-runner Bill de Blasio in hopes of avoiding a runoff that could weaken the winner for the general election.

The city’s Democratic Party, desperate to elect its first mayor since 1989, was unable to officially rally around de Blasio, the city’s public advocate, who finished Tuesday’s primary with just above 40 percent of the votes. That’s the threshold that would have clinched his party’s nomination, but election officials said it will be at least Monday before all votes, including absentee ballots, are counted.

If de Blasio finishes with less than 40 percent of the vote total, he would face an Oct. 1 runoff against Thompson. …

Asking Thompson to bow out is clearly racist. Do the NYC Democrats want to be racist ?

De Blasio is a radical leftist. This has gotten zero press attention, thanks to his endless exploitation of his bi-racial children. NYC will pay the price for electing him. Where is Trump to try and stop him?

Indeed. How can they do that to the sole black candidate in the entire race?

Once again, the unknown strange miasma in the air here soaked into the brains of the people who live all around me in the 5 boroughs of NYC. The result was that they voted for our own local version of Governor Moonbeam. DeBlasio is so far to the left that he runs into the wall. I am, once again, to be helplessly dragged into the hell they are creating by voting for this disgusting leftist. He wants to tax everyone making over $500,000 and use it for "programs to help the poor". Redistribution of wealth. Where have we see THAT before? He wants to end stop and frisk, so that shady types will still have their firearms to commit crimes.

Here it is, right off his accursed website:

"...It's a plan to tax the wealthy to fund a seat in full-day pre-K for every New York child and after-school programs for middle school students, build and preserve 200,000 units of affordable housing, keep hospitals out of the hands of developers and open for care, and build strong community-police relations by ending the misuse and abuse of stop and frisk."

And who do you think will be living in the "200,000 units of affordable housing"? These will create new high-crime ghettos to ruin yet more neighborhoods, as well as sanctuaries for illegals and drug dealers.

Not to worry, there will still be plenty of leftist radical black racists on the City Council.

***The city’s Democratic Party, desperate to elect its first mayor since 1989...***

Guess the author forgot about Bloomberg.

I think he’s a Democrat...or is he a Communist? Hard to tell based on how Bloomie governs.

Even if Thompson bowed out, if Di Blasio is under 40%, wouldn’t the next candidate in line be eligible for the run off? And if they all quit, accept for Wiener who would never quit with his 5% of the vote, wouldn’t that be funny if he were back for another humiliating election?

We upstaters get screwed by the city.

It's the same in every state. Normal, taxpaying, traditional American families get screwed by the concentrated Democrat parasite nests ("cities"). Here in Pennsylvania we get screwed by our own pisspot, Philadelphia.

They’re concerned a runoff might damage the dem in the general election? Unless the GOPer were Giuliani back for another go-round, the dems have nothing to fear.

He won’t drop out. The Teachers Union won’t let him. They bet on him and if they lose they’re screwed.

They want him out because we’ve already had a black mayor. We haven’t had an interracial couple featuring a former black lesbian First Lady. Errrr, former lesbian, not former black. Although in NYC, I didn’t think we believed in former lesbians.
