The Obama administration and its congressional allies who favor strikes on Syria insist the rebels there are moderates and that any radical elements involved are a tiny fraction of the opposition who would never take power if the rebellion succeeds.
Other evidence suggests rebel forces are responsible for executions of Syrian soldiers, the live dismembering of Christians and even cannibalism.
So who’s right?
“The rebel forces are now dominated by jihadists, from al-Qaida to Hezbollah to some of the forces that are just pure Muslim mercenaries,” said Ken Blackwell, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. “All you have to do is to look at who has been brutalized by this rebellion group. The most dominant victim has been Christians. When you look at that, you have to raise the question, ‘Why would we support forces that are hellbent on creating hell on Earth for Christian believers in Syria?”
When asked to answer his own question, Blackwell told WND lack of clarity from Washington is a big part of the problem.
“There’s no coherent Middle East policy within the Obama administration. There’s no clarity of purpose, no real set of objectives for why we should be engaged, what our interests are and who our true allies are,” he said. “This is an administration that stiff arms (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu, that turns a cold shoulder toward allies in the U.K. and who, over the past several years, has embraced and been a cheerleader for the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Well His Arrogance has his “crack team” (not the regular druggie crack team) scheming now for a payback. They have Kerry-Heinz creating all kinds or requirements and timetables that he knows no one will accept. His Arrogance has a contract with the Saudis and Qatar to unseat Assad and they are demanding action now.
When I first saw the headline I thought it said “Chimp.”
Last week he was a chimp with a live grenade, this week he’s a chump? I’m confused.
The rebel forces do not contain elements of Hezbollah. That group is funded and controlled by Iran who is four square behind Assad. Blackwell ought to know better if I do.
Not the way I play it.
Putin-Relic of the Cold War, Warrior by nature who loves to stick to Western interests whenever the opportunity presents himself. Worth many billions of dollars acquired in ways not not for public consumption. He gave Iran nuclear reactor that wasn't necessarily in the best interests of Russia but the kick out of seeing the West get frazzled was all worth it for him. Man of the world, excels in several forms of martial art, top Soviet agent, ruthless, has killed perceived enemies, looks as Russia as a resurgent capable world player in his goals of making Russian power felt across the globe. Shrewd, savvy, die-hard Russian loyalist patriot.
Obama governing, ideology, philosophy of politics is one which he acquired via a mail order degree. Never had a job delegating authority,no background in either politics, or the military, has no political conception of the world in Realpolitik, and essentially prefers being on vacation full time, all the time.
The goals are now what they've always been - to prop up the Brotherhood so as to surround Israel with well-armed, radical islamists.
