1. We dont know what kind of chemical weapons they have or how many there are.
Middle East experts like to say that Syria has one of the largest chemical weapons stockpiles in the world, but estimates of how many chemical weapons Syria has vary widely between 5001,000 tons. We also dont know exactly what type of chemical agents they are using, though experts who have studied Syrias military closely say its likely Sarin, mustard gas, and VX nerve agents.
We dont know what form they are in or how they have been mixed together. We dont know if they are weaponized or not. All these factors mean vastly different scenarios, said Paul Walker, director of environmental security and sustainability at Global Green and a former House Arms Services Committee staffer.

Doesn’t matter. The neocons wanted war and they just had their a** handed to them. That’s the important thing.
Reason 8: No one in outside DC thinks anything of our govt.
Reason 9: Everyone outside DC thinks that the Obamadork is a twinkie without a brain.
Reason 10: The Kerry-Gigolo causes even more laughs and disrespect than does the Obamadork.
Besides Russia has already promised to replace them or return them, whichever comes first. The USA is now officially Zimbabwe light as far as world politics are concerned. Its what Obama wanted and promised.
Oh puh-leez.
Does anyone seriously believe Syria is actually going to destroy their chemical weapons, or surrender them all to anyone else for destruction?
If so, I have a magnificent bridge in Brooklyn I’m willing to sell, cheap.
I would require him to work as an unpaid volunteer until 2020.
This is why Putin jumped at Lurch and 0bozo’s blunder. They can “negotiate” all this for years, just like it happened in Iraq.
I wonder if Hans Blix is busy at the moment?
Oops! Wrong thread!!!
Hey! I like Twinkies.

Come on in! The water’s fine :)
This is a nightmare scenario in a permissive environment. The safety of the workers is imperative. Building an incinerator would be the best thing to do. That’d cost over a billion dollars. Ideally, this will someday be done, but that should happen in a reasonably benign environment if there is any hope of these chemicals being completely destroyed.
Exactly. Nor does 0bozo even care one way or the other. He just wants this Syria problem done with. He will claim credit for it if at all possible.
Well, he cares what happens as to how it affects the chances of his Muzzie radicals controlling territory in Syria.
.
“Middle East experts” are usually out to lunch.
One of the assumptions is that Syria actually has a lot of these stocks. Personally, I think his willingness to turn them over means he really doesn’t have much.
Chemical weapons are hard to use because you have to protect your own forces, they degrade over time, they are banned by practically every international convention, and they’re probably more trouble than they’re worth as a major part of a country’s defensive strategy.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t any, but simply that this is probably not the greatest immediate threat.
Obama has thrown in the lot of the US on the side of the Islamists, who want the gas reserves for themselves and their Saudi masters. At the same time, Russia has taken the side of Syria which is a client of Iran, and these three countries also want access to or control of the gas reserves.
The Islamists think they’re extending Islam, and so does Iran; Syria and Russia know that it’s all about the money. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, is using the Islamists to get them more money.
And Obama, the little Muslim wannabe, doesn’t know a darn thing about anything.

Oh yes let’s all wring our hands and obsess over this...not. As long as Putin stopped the madness that’s fine for now.
I don't think Hans Brix is going to be available...
Perhaps Syria should just ship them back to Iraq.
One reason why destroying chem weapons will fail;
” We don’t give a flying fig”.
