Obama's speech a model of persuasion
CNN ^ | September 11, 2013 | By David Kusnet

Sixty-one percent of Americans polled, who watched President Obama's prime-time speech, told CNN that they support his policy towards Syria.

Since some surveys showed as much as two-thirds opposition to military action against Syria in the days before the speech, the poll suggests that he did what presidents rarely do: change people's minds, if only temporarily.

How did he do it? In only 15 minutes, President Obama made his points, simply and straightforwardly. Anyone arguing a controversial case in the court of public opinion can learn from what he said and how he said it:

LOL.

Ask those folks what his “Policy” is, and they can’t tell you...because there isn’t a policy...except to bomb or not bomb, it is urgent, but not so urgent that Congress should vote now, and the Russian plan is good or it isn’t—we’ll have to wait and see.

So keep pluggin’ that lie, CNN. Your ratings tell the story.

Well, I certainly found BO to be very persuasive. So much so, in fact, that when I listened to him speak four years ago I was persuaded not to ever listen to him again.

I saw brief moments of Obama’s speech. Here was my immediate takeaway. The old adage of, “it’s not necessarily what you say as much as the way you say it.”

I watched as Obama looked into the camera with sincereity dripping from every pore of his eyes that gazed right through the camera. I knew instantly that it didn’t matter what he said or did, but that most Americans would be giving him a standing ovation because “he just looked so sincere”.

Americans are suckers for almost anyone that can manipulate them. It is why actors can sell people their 35th kitchen gadget or floor mop to the person living in one room apartment or nursing home.

People don’t examine any issue, they just want the best, nicest American Idol person to win, darn it!

they support his policy towards Syria.

I'll bet that not one out of fifty could even elucidate his policy.

It doesn’t mean minds were changed, it only means that more democrat Obamabots watched the speech.

Exactly! Every other word out of his mouth is a lie and rest are "I", so why waste time watching the b*stard? Life is way too short! Besides seeing his ugly face make me physically ill!

The author pulled out his dusty Speech Writing Manual For Dummies and compared its list of must-have components to the text of Obungo’s speech. Voila (or, as my UC Berkeley educated boss used to say ‘Wolla!’), it did match!

According to someone on Bill Bennett's program this morning (I only heard someone on another program refer to it), part of the speech was plagiarized from one of Bush's speeches. It's possible that Bill's guest was someone who'd served in the Bush administration and was familiar with it.

The only people who bother to listen to Barry’s speeches are the drooling sycophants who would applaud him even if he were killing puppies on live TV. Even with that audience he could only convince 61% of them to support his Syria position.

I tried to watch the speech, but after hearing the first few minutes on C-SPAN decided that He must be late to the podium and that what I was watching was a rerun of what He had said earlier.

A few minutes later, I decided to try again and by then He had got into Putin's ideas. Later, I read the entire thing.

There was little there about which to blog, and I haven't, because its lack of substance and general, all round, absurdity was being covered elsewhere; there was nothing non-redundant that I could write.
