Russian President Vladimir Putin will offer to supply Iran S-300 air defence missile systems as well as build a second reactor at the Bushehr nuclear plant, the Kommersant business daily reported Wednesday.

Putin will renew an old offer to supply Iran with five of the sophisticated ground-to-air missile systems at a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rowhani on Friday, Kommersant said, quoting a souce close to the Kremlin.

Putin is set to meet Rowhani at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation held in Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

I suppose the difference is that the Saudis are too decadent to be aggressive, whereas the Iranians aren’t.

The official Saudi policies are not anti-American. The official Iranians are and they use proxies to attack us and our allies. Many wealthy Saudi citizens do not support the position of their government. The citizens of Iran were, about 8 years ago, pro-American. Saudi is not building a bomb to hit Israel. It’s a big difference.

This is Putin rubbing Obama’s nose in the dirt after being slighted. Powerful children at play.

It took you three times to jig up enough excuses to call me a Putin excuser, again, and you still got it wrong. I don’t want the Muslims trying to overthrow Assad getting the S-300s, they aren’t the ones buying them. They’d be just as Iran is what I said, and I never ONCE said that I approved of Russian weapons sales to Iran.

As far as your ‘reactor’ thing, France, Germany, et al have at one time or another sold reactor parts to Muslim countries. What is different here? Did the article say they are ‘breeder’ reactors capable of producing fissionable material?

You hate Putin, okay I get it. I don’t like him either but right now he is the only adult on the international playing field with respect to our dear leader, and he has to be negotiated with from a perspective of respect that goes both ways. Obama cannot respect anything because it diminishes him.

My initial comment as I thought it was about my thinking the Putin offer had been extended to Syria and thus our discussion(s).

I realize now that the offer was to Iran, instead and I am embarrassed about having to get through this much back and forth to now realize that. My bad and my apologies for that.

Of any of the numerous countries I think should not gain advanced defensive weapons, Iran and North Korea are at the top of the list. To me, however, the legitimate government of Syria as it has existed before this incursion of foreign backed Muslim Brotherhood rebels is not anywhere near the top of that list. I believe our President is doing everything he can to topple any current Muslim country government that is not in control by Muslim Brotherhood factions and I believe that his objective is to completely surround Israel with Muslim fanatics that exist today.

Again, my bad. Sorry.

When did Iran threaten to use a nuclear weapon on Israel? In fact when did Iran threaten to wipe Israel off the face of the earth? I know which speeches you are thinking of by ahmedinejad, but it is easy to research that our media and the globe edited and mistranslated his speeches for drama and sensationalism.
His first time he was quoted as saying this, he in fact said Zionism needs to be eliminated. (Zionism does not mean Israel as a nation, nor does it mean Jews) The media took this and ran with it as he threatens to wipe Israel off the map. He followed up his Zionism needs to be eliminated sentence with, “the best way to do this is democratically”.
I am not saying Iranian government are good, they are far from it. Our best ally Saudi Arabia, however are Nazis in comparison. At the very least Iran has churches and Christians and synagogues and Jewish people living there and represented in government. In Saudi Arabia you cant even vacation there if you are Christian, you cant own two bibles if you work there, and there are no churches and is illegal to build churches.
If we want to delve next into the fanatics backed by both regimes you only need to look at Hezbollah (backed by Iran) and Al Qaeda(backed by sunni extremists).

Here is a link of hezbollah’s leader talking against how al Qaeda jihadists target Shiite pilgrims, and bomb churches and target Christians for worshipping Christianity. Goes on to call their school of thought to be a new religion and a fabrication.
Compare this to Al Qaeda and the muslim brotherhood and their backers stance on Christians in the middle east. Look at Iraq, Egypt and Syria at how sunni groups target Christians and bomb them and kill them.

The sad thing about all this, is a terrorist like Hezbollah’s leader is quicker to defend middle eastern Christians against al Qaeda than our own president.

My whole point here was to show who our allies are and who Russia’s allies are. We sell advanced weapons to far more intolerant people than Russia does, and we are empowering the people who want to cleanse the region of a Christian presence making us just as guilty as al Qaeda.

Great. Now, we have the pro-Iran Freepers here to balance out the perceived pro-Moslem brotherhood Freepers. Good grief.

why is he helping the mad mullahs?

Trying to give competition to Obama?

We Americans would be better off if we asked those questions about our own president before we start asking them about an other.

Te only Freepers I see are Pro-American Freepers who find supporting this President of ours a conflict of interest.

The last I heard Putin was sending arms to Syria to help Assad crush the US Backed Muslem Brotherhood/ Al Qaeda rebels.

Obama (OUR nation's President) = pro-Moslem Brotherhood.

Remember Libya?

Remember Egypt?

OBAMA's USA DID THAT (and was cheered by the McCain wing of the GOP).

No one is pro-Iran unless its their dissidents.

There are no good guys in the Syria mess, not even the US can be considered the “good guy” in this.

In reality you are following a liberal logic.

Ah, you could read the article and see that it’s reported that Putin is going to sell advanced air defense weapons to Iran. Or you could spout diatribes about the idiot Obama. The article is not about Syria. You’ll know that if you’ll stop and think for a second.

How am I following Liberal logic? I’m against Putin and Obama. That’s as a committed, long term, principled Conservative and not a passing Putin fad. Putin is an autocrat who kills journalist in Russia, intimidates the Baltic States, Poland, Ukraine, and Georgia. You may think he’s a okay. I don’t. You can oppose Obama and not want to see Putin or Obama do long term harm to America.
