Russian President Vladimir Putin will offer to supply Iran S-300 air defence missile systems as well as build a second reactor at the Bushehr nuclear plant, the Kommersant business daily reported Wednesday.
Putin will renew an old offer to supply Iran with five of the sophisticated ground-to-air missile systems at a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rowhani on Friday, Kommersant said, quoting a souce close to the Kremlin.
Putin is set to meet Rowhani at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation held in Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

I’d imagine its that natural gas pipeline thru Syria expected to be completed in 2016. It all boils down to oil/gas/money in the end.
Regardless, this country has shipped billions/trillions of weapons to a multitude allies as Foreign Sales for our MIC...what is wrong with Russian doing the same thing trying to cement relationships and make some cash for its weapons builders?

Selling advanced air defense weapons to a country run by crazy religous zealots who want to build a nuclear weapon and use it on Israel is like thinking selling whiskey to kids driving cars is smart. Obama is selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and they are no better than the Iranians. There are no heroes here. I don’t know if that’s the point you are trying to make.

You forget all the arms WE supplied Sadam, much of that came back to haunt us in the form of 105mm/155mm projectiles being used for IEDs
Or more recently where in Libya where after-Benghazi reports suggest the reason the CIA had such a large presence there was to redirect some of the weapons they'd supplied the rebels to Syria (hence the ambassador's presence there).
Your logic it seems is that it is okay to supply dangerous weapons to SOME Muslims, but it isn't okay just now because Putin is offering more of a defensive weapons system (S-300) to Syria. Finally, if you think that the rebels trying to overthrow the current Syrian government are any better than Iran, then you are misguided because if they manage to overthrow it, then all those chemicals and weapons system really WILL be directed at Israel.
