Britain sent poison gas chemicals to Assad: Proof UK delivered Sarin to Syrian regime for years

British companies sold chemicals to Syria that could have been used to produce the deadly nerve agent that killed 1,400 people, The Mail on Sunday can reveal today.

Between July 2004 and May 2010 the Government issued five export licences to two companies, allowing them to sell Syria sodium fluoride, which is used to make sarin.

The Government last night admitted for the first time that the chemical was delivered to Syria – a clear breach of international protocol on the trade of dangerous substances that has been condemned as ‘grossly irresponsible’.

The sales were made at a time when President Bashar Assad was strongly suspected to be stockpiling the chemical weapons that have caused an international crisis.

The UK firms delivered sodium fluoride to a Syrian cosmetics company for what they claim were legitimate purposes. But intelligence experts believe President Assad’s regime uses such companies to divert chemicals into its weapons programme.

Thomas Docherty MP, a member of the Commons Arms Export Controls Committee, said: ‘These are very disturbing revelations uncovered by The Mail on Sunday regarding the provision of sodium fluoride to Syria. At no time should we have allowed President Assad’s regime to get its hands on this substance.....

There is a long cultural history of this sort of behavior.

There is every reason to think that when the British ruled Mandate Palestine, controlled Egypt and huge Arab lands, (1917-1948) the likes of T.E. Lawrence and a host of British upper crust, Sandhurst types were already used to gay relations by the time they ruled the Arabs. Effeminate British gentlemen from all boy schools curried favor with local Arab boys and men all over the Middle East. They had a lot in common even though it was Lord over local inhabitant. Just go back and watch Lawrence of Arabia or read the 7 Pillars of Wisdom.

Correct.

It is what is called a “dual use” substance.

Meaning, the substance can be used for multiple purposes.

Water treatment is one use for this compound. . .imagine the cries of outrage if the west refused to provide such an essential compound to Assad’s regime. Imagine the “poor children forced to drink sewer water because the west won’t supply this essential chemical.”

Curious there’s no mention of quantities. Tons would be interesting. Gallons would be boring. Anybody know what sodium fluoride would do in a cosmetic? Maybe Basher wanted a secret formula that could be used to eat the lips off decadent westerners?

It’s that insecticide part that’s interesting. Virtually all of the war-adapted chemical agents designed to kill people came from research into bug-killers. Some folks call them bug killers for people.

“I read it in the newspaper” or, “I read it on the internet” does not make it TRUE. There is NO WAY I believe odumbo when he tells us they did.

I have no argument that Britian may have sent sarin to Syria. Certaily Syria COULD have used the sarin to create the poison gas.

It still does not PROVE to me that they actually USED (meaning “fired”) weapons with that gas inside.

The rebels version of how the gas was used is more likely.

So?

Does this prove the Brits sold NaF for the known purpose of making sarin?

Hardly.

Dual use.
