Abbott to govern with 30-seat majority (official - conservative victory in Australian election)

THE federal Liberal-National coalition is likely to govern with a majority of at least 30 seats after a swing of just over three per cent against Labor.

The ALP has become the first two-term federal government to be thrown out of office since Gough Whitlam's regime in 1975.

Tony Abbott's coalition is on track to pick up 90 seats, with Labor holding 57, in the 150-seat parliament, but it won't have a majority in the Senate.

We have a genuine conservative. And from all I can see, a good man.

Will he help the people get their guns back?

The first major casualty of the “Great Global Warming Swindle.” More and more evidence is coming out that carbon dioxide is NOT the great boogieman of global warming. Australia tried to be upfront with a nationwide carbon tax which the taxpayers rejected. The US on the other hand is moving forward using a strategy of a “thousand cuts” through increasingly stringent regulations by a partisan and unscientific EPA together with the complicity of the mainstream media and educational institutions from grade school through college.

Each country has unique characteristics so what works in one won’t translate exactly in another but what I read from this one is that the appeal to pocketbook bread and butter issues can lead to electoral victory. If there is one issue looming over America right now that is going to cost a lot of people a lot of money it’s Obamacare and if you can message it right the green agenda. That is the key to booting the socialists out. You have to show the voter how much it will cost to elect Hillary or whatever socialist the next dim candidate is.

What is the balance of power in the Senate? Could this affect Abbott’s ability to implement his agenda?

Hey Australia conservatives: how about loosening those immigration laws and allowing some more conservatives in as new citizens? :)

We’ll build a new world down under.

Conerning the Senate and carbon tax repeal, what will the balance of power be on July 1, 2014, or will Abbott need to resort to double dissolution. It seems very complicated.

I wish our guys would repeal things when they get into power but they never do. They always say “its a settled issue”, the left never says that.

Congratulations Australia - you’ve elected a man that can talk well.

Now stick to him like fleas on a dog and keep biting him into action!

Prime Minister elect Tony Abbott

“In a week or so the Governor-General will swear in a new government; a government that says what it means and means what it says, a government of no surprises, and no excuses, a government that understands the limits of power as well as its potential. And a government that accepts that it will be judged more by its deeds than by its mere words.”
