Oh right, I forgot he officially joined the rats.
Still bad news that he won’t be in the rat primary to create discord and possibly win their nomination.
We still have a decent chance of electing Fung.
Hopefully, Chafee not running will mean that one or two liberal “independents” run in the general, thereby increasing Fung’s odds of winning a plurality.
Yeah those were of great help to Paul LePage in Maine, Eliot Cutler is running again there, he actually ran way ahead of the weak rat for 2nd place in 2010 so we can technically thank that rat for staying in. Some other indie peeled off another 5% and yet another one got 1%. LePage won by less than 2%.
He probably couldn’t beat Michaud without Cutler in there taking votes.
A lot of that in New England, going back to the proto-Chaffe, Lowell Weicker.

I’m in RI often. I haven’t followed the politics of the state house too close over the past 30 years .... I remember the day when it was typical for a conservative DEM to challenge a progressive in the primaries.
It is apparent that the progressives have succeeded in purging the party. RI is a nightmare ... soon to be Massachusetts, Junior. Very sad.
The only interesting thing is the guy in North Providence who beat the majority leader by running as an independent.
That would be smart. The conservatives should start a third party there ... Independent Party. Not The Conservative Party. The whole Independent Majority bit that worked in Massachusetts for one month in January 2010.
