John McCain fully expected to be court martialed after he got back from North Vietnam for collaboration and other offenses and he fully deserved to be.

His family connections (father and grandfather were Admirals) and a desire on the part of Nixon to portray all of our POWs as heroes saved his ass.

McCain's history of bad behavior goes back a long, long way.

I was struck by the fact that center stage discussing a war was the antiwar secretary of state rather than the man designated to prosecute the war, the secretary of defense.
