U.S. public opposes Syria intervention as Obama presses Congress

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama has failed so far to convince most Americans that the United States should launch a limited military strike against Syria in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack by the Syrian government, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Tuesday.

Some 56 percent of those surveyed said the United States should not intervene in Syria, while only 19 percent supported action, the online poll found.

The findings are essentially unchanged from last week and indicated that Obama changed few minds on Saturday when he argued that Washington has the obligation to punish Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for what the United States says was a sarin gas attack that killed more than 1,400 people, including hundreds of children, near Damascus on August 21.

The Saudi Government, who has co-opted Democrats and Republicans alike, simply do not care what the American public thinks.

The Saudis are certainly part of the picture. They have a genius for speaking out of both sides of their mouths: posing as pro-Western "moderates" when they need something from the US, while assuring their own militant constituents that they're really on the side of militant by implementing sharia law at home and supporting jihadi fighters throughout the world.

I doubt that their influence is the whole story, but they're a big part of the picture. It's no accident that you had both Obama (literally) bowing to them and George W. Bush (literally) holding their hands.

Well, sure, we all know that, no explanation necessary. But we must challenge these templates, ridicule them, rather than continue to get down on our knees accept them and apologize (I think.) It’s along the line of people here and elsewhere saying, admitting “yes, I am a racist!” Use their weapon against them! Otherwise you risk the such nicks as ‘Hussein’ will be used against you (and have been, from what I’ve seen) in exactly the same way.

Simply stated, the Saudis keep their friends close and their enemies even closer.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing Corker say during the hearings. He kept referring to strengthening the MODERATE opposition in Syria.

There is NO MODERATE OPPOSITION IN SYRIA.

I can’t believe what’s happening to my country.

Glad I’m not the only one who has noticed the GOP’s own strain of the political correctness virus.

The only question is who they consider their enemies and who they count among their friends.

In modern history, there is no time in my life when the muzzies weren’t on a mass killing rampage.

I take it for granted they will always be murdering someone.

Therefore, when they apply their murderous ways to one another, I hate to, but must, call it a blessing. Because the alternative is that they will apply their murdering to innocent non-muslim people who are just trying to live good lives without that Child Rapist as their role model.

Yes, evidently the names for this Indonesian mulatto in the White Hut have already been categorized by the Political Correctness Ministry, and you’d better be careful with every word. (Is ‘mulatto’ allowed? What about ‘Indonesian’?)

I despise the republican party for allowing scumbags like Mccain, Graham and Boner turn the party into Obama’s bitches. America has no interest in intervening in Syria. When your enemies are killing each other you let them keep killing each other.

Is there a web site that aggregates antiwar marches and demonstrations here in the US? It’s time for me to put on my boots. I see there is one in the UK:

I got lectured by the Ministry the other day for making a joke about Obongo having no military experience, "unless he served in the 101st Kenyan Spear Chucker Brigade and we haven't heard about it." I guess now being a birther or pointing out that Kenya isn't exactly a military power is "racist"...

That reminds me of the Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski (I forgot his first name) remarking once that, yes, Obongo has Polish blood.

(Evidently, his ancestors ate a Polish missionary.)

“It’s the start of WWIII!”

FDR used the last one to get us out of a Depression his policies prolonged. 0bama wants one to get out of a Recession his policies prolonged. The biggest difference is, and I hate to say it, this war we lose. We have the weaponry to start with, but we don’t have the money, we don’t have the manufacturing base in key industries, and quite frankly, we don’t have the will power to wage a real war, much less win it.

The “President” gives you more than enough material to work without having to stoop to anything with any sort of racial overtones. Run him through with his own words and policies but just leave race out of it.

I am 100% against it.

Of course, the Assclown didn’t do a damn thing about Benghazi, except to jail an AMERICAN citizen who had a youtube video.

Fiscal policies used to be another subtle difference between Team Blue and Team Red. Team Red would talk about holding the line on taxes and social programs. Then they would expand Team Red socialist spending programs, run up deficits, and raise middle class taxes. Team Blue would talk about taxing the rich and expanding social programs. Then they would expand Team Blue socialist spending programs, run up deficits, and raise middle class taxes.

Gotta have something to blame economic collapse on.

It’s not like politicians want to take any responsibility.
