Last August, President Obama drew his line in the Syrian sand. "We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation."
A year later two things are clear: 1) There was no equation; it was just Obama talking nonsense. 2.) He bluffed without a plan.
The United States of America has no business attacking Syria. Our national security is not at stake. The one and only reason we are on the verge of war is because the President thought it personally advantageous to rattle the sabers just before the 2012 election.

I believe his “plan” was a set up for President Romney to be left holding the bag and enforcing/not enforcing the Obama “red line” doctrine.
Yet I am also very concerned that if we do nothing at all, the US will no longer be taken seriously by either our allies or our enemies in the Middle East...
I couldn't tell you about our alleged "allies," AmericanExceptionalist, but am very sure our enemies have been laughing at us since President You Didn't Build That was sworn into office.
Look what happened in Egypt when we supported the Muslim Brotherhood and got rid of Mubarak, who was a friend to us and Israel.
So Assad is bad, but Al Qaeda taking over Syria is MUCH worse.
Remember when Carter supported the Muslim cleric and allowed them to get rid of the Shah, who was our friend and wanted to bring his country into the 20th century — look at Iran now. That is a direct result of Carter’s policies.

Look. Foreign policy is hard. You have to make friends with some pretty bad actors in order to prevent worse enemies from gaining an advantage on you. Ours is not a world populated with angels. You take what you have and build from there. I always thought that throwing Mubarak under the bus was a blunder of epic proportions. Sure, Mubarak was a bastard, but he was OUR bastard. AND Obama dissed the Brits and Israel. You piss off the people who have your back? Really? Amateur hour would be a step up for this bunch.

It is quite possible and even highly likely that the “rebels” (Al Qaeda) were the ones who used chemical weapons, to force the US enter the fight on the side of the “rebels”.
For a military hating, Nobel Peace Prize winning homosexual loving, girly man Obama is sure abusing the hell out of our armed forces.
Ever notice that all of these Washington gas bags are all about sending other peoples children into harms way but never their own ?

Regardless of what we do -- be it nothing or something "just muscular enough not to mock" -- we are NOT going to be taken seriously by our allies nor our enemies...all around the globe.
And that shall remain the case until our current President is retired and put out to pasture...and a serious American takes his place.
We're stuck with him. And the circumstance he has created.
And correcting the situation will take a serious electorate...

Weak presidents can force us into war. If you were an enemy of the USA would you not see this as a time to act? Would Iran like to face obama or someone else? President Cruz? President palin? President Paul? or even—say President Hillary? Look to see more problems for America soon! Next two years will not be good ones for the USA. Only good thing—we didn’t blunder into another war—Thank you Mr. Putin, Thank you UK.

Then-President Carter's complicity in the toppling of the Shah of Iran was one of the greatest tragedies of the twentieth century. True, the shah was oppressive--a mere dictator--but he was, at least, pro-Western and (more importantly) pro-American; which is precisely the opposite of what may be said for any of his successors.
Egypt's Mubarak, likewise, was a dictator; but he managed to cobble together a peace agreement with Israel--a peace agreement that the Muslim Brotherhood surely has never had any intention of honoring--and he was, at least, pro-American...
True, you just aren’t going to get any saints in that part of the world. I used to be real naive in that area, no more.
