The GOP is heading for the tall grass. My senator, Corker said yesterday
that he supports the strike on Syria. Now Fox just ran a press release from
Corker and it is the opposite of what he said yesterday on our local news.

Not that that necessarily invalidates the point you make: Assad (and his father before him) have largely controlled Lebanon and its government for much of the past 40 years.

They should have impeached Obama for making war on Libya without congressional permission.
The Republicans said that the WMD’s were probably moved to Syria while the Dems were giving Saddam Hussain all the time he needed to prepare for the invasion from Bush 2. The Dems cried B.S. So there apparently are no WMDs and Obama is making this up. The Republicans should be loudly holding the president to the same requirements as Bush was. 8 months of UN inspections and “give peace a chance” diplomacy. (I know, Rebubs don’t have the spine for that.)
Turns out the “mis-handling” was done by the Syrian Army geniuses. A group of them wound up in a hospital in Damascus to get treated for chemical burns/damage. Reported by Aljazeera English who had people with the UN gasguys who in turn interviewed said geniuses in the hospital. Pictures weren’t allowed but the interviews are in the UN notes. Curiously, when word gets out in the Syrian Army that this stuff can bite it might very well diminish the tendency to use it. And you ain’t getting a virgin billy goat if you die from a misfire.
Good job GOP. Good leadership Mr Speaker.

You are correct, but it is also right on the border with Syria. You are also right about Syrian muscle in Lebanon.
It is right on the border, yes. I spent a year working in Damascus, and 6 months in Beirut, in 2006-7, and used to drive through the Bekaa between the two. The border is right at the top of the mountain as you come up out of the valley. Beautiful scenery, shame it’s such a mess in other ways - they make some good wine there, too.
