A military jury sentenced Maj. Nidal Hasan to death Wednesday for killing 13 people during the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood.
Hasan, who sat motionless as the jury president read the verdict, has said he acted to protect Islamic insurgents abroad from American aggression, never denied being the gunman. In opening statements, he acknowledged to the jury that he pulled the trigger in a crowded waiting room where troops were getting final medical checkups before deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Hasan had one final chance Wednesday to give a closing argument before his case went to the jury, but he declined -- continuing an absent defense that he has used since his trial began three weeks ago.
The Army psychiatrist's behavior has only stoked suspicion that his ultimate goal is martyrdom, in the form of a death sentence that would allow him to fulfill what prosecutors have described as a "jihad duty" under his Islamic faith.
The lead prosecutor, Col. Mike Mulligan, told jurors Wednesday morning that history was full of instances of death in the name of religion. But he said it would be "wrong and unsupportive" to tie Hasan's actions to a wider cause

I hope they strap him to a gurney and choke him to death with a wad of raw bacon.
Can the Mooslum in the White Hut pardon him?
According to UCMJ this goes to automatic appeal.
It will never happen.
He is a Islamic TERRORIST!! He killed and for 44 PEOPLE FOR Allah. All military wounded and killed should receive their Purple Hearts and benefits as soldiers. All those that looked the other way should now be court marshaled
Please tell me it won't be another four freakin' years...
Somebody post that Powers Boothe picture. I’m too lazy.
>>>I hope they strap him to a gurney and choke him to death with a wad of raw bacon.<<<
I was thinking he should be eaten alive by a pack of feral hogs, but I like your idea too.
Just what was the total money spent on this trial. Those who knew more about this terrorist and let it slide or covered up activity need to be exposed and held accountable.
Well he is the CIC so probably so. Or at least life w/o parole or life with parole. Be interesting to see.
He should be shot at dawn tomorrow, but this isn’t our grand parents America.
If only his death could be as the death of Damiens, after his unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Louis XV (now deceased.)
50 years since anyone was put to death from a death penalty case in the military. He should just be put in general population and let the justice system work its magic
Good to see the jury taking such a strong stand against “workplace violence”. /sarcasm
Ok it won’t be another 4 years.
More like 20 or 30.
That’s a shame.
“Please tell me it won’t be another four freakin’ years... “
I have no idea how long the appeal process will drag on.
The last military execution was 1961.
Isn’t he paralyzed? How about throwing him in his cell with out his wheelchair and let him worry how he gets around?
at least we can still have some faith in the military justice system
if he was tried in civilian court, he’d already be out and signing book deals while appearing on reality shows next to snoop dog
The pardon power of the President is plenary, so the answer is yes. It's worse than that. Under the UCMJ, the President must personally confirm the sentence. Not to worry by the time his conviction winds through it mandatory judicial appeals, President Obama will be on his 12th term.
All death sentences are automatically appealed first to the Court of Criminal Appeals for the military service concerned, then to the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. The sentence must be personally confirmed by the President of the United States.
No more beating around the bush! “Let’s roll!” Send him back to hell where he came from
” Workplace Death Penalty”
Second Reaction: Here come the appeals, the protests, the "Free Nidal" fanboys and fangirls, and the T-shirt franchise for the legal defense fund.
This man will never die.
That’s what he wanted so he can get the 72 virgins. why give him what he wants? but if they are going to do that, pour pig blood all over him and hang him, hang him high!
Firing Squad. No announcement, no press, just do it.
Then disappear his body like bin ladin’s — and report that only, after all is done.
Oh, I want to see that - which Powers Boothe pic?
Whoops, disregard, it’s been done.
Here is what I posted earlier:
Not exactly the virgins you expected, Major?
I hope some enterprising young sailor on the carrier that dumped bin Laden into the sea, put some pork rinds in with the remains.
Stick him in a pork-lined cell.
Make sure he gets death by burning with bacon grease.
Take away his Depends in the meantime.
Force him to grow his beard back and then rip it out.
Oh, comrades, you both know me well enough that I could get QUITE INVENTIVE with my recommendations.
So, we’ll go with both of yours, in succession.
Let the howling and hand-wringing begin. And the endless delays from appeal after appeal after appeal ...
Good. Part of our justice system works. However, I expect this corrupt administration to pardon him as the last Anti-American act of their term.
Not to worry - Imam Obama will save him.
His execution needs to be done quietly and without any acknowledgement.
To take a quote from the movie Elizabeth:
Norfolk: So cut off my head, and make me a martyr. The people will always remember it.
Walsingham: No... they will forget.
Second Reaction: Here come the appeals, the protests, the “Free Nidal” fanboys and fangirls, and the T-shirt franchise for the legal defense fund.
This man will never die.”.......
The apeals will last just long enough for odumbo to give him a complete pardon as the POS odumbo leaves offive
They said they buried Osama at sea?
Why not take Hasan of the Australian Coast and let the sharks eat him alive. No trace of him again.
There, fixed it.
