As the war drums for Syria get louder, let this thread serve as a repository for news, background, Tweets, photos, video, on-the-ground reports, etc., as was done recently with Egypt.

....”there’s isn’t any good reporting in these threads, only the bad and the ugly”....

Unfortunately that is the path and swath the Muslim Brotherhood leaves in their path anywhere they've raised their ugly heads out of the slime pits they come from.....

Was interesting refreshing my memory yesterday of how Assad came to power and his father...all the way back as well.

.....The Sunni Shite thingy always plays out in Syria and why Assad is always seen as a thug by other nations....he's been doing the same thing as the Army in Egypt has done....keeping the Brotherhood from power and the Extreme Islamic Law they desire to rule with.

Egypt would have never lead to World War....but Syria may very well do so with Russia and China in that mix.

The French would like to gain back some say in Syria as well...and British....Obama likes to hide behind them both.

At any rate... I also researched the Suez....what a raw deal Egypt got on that and no wonder Nassur nationalized it and the people loved him for doing so. Understandable why Egypt never believes anything the US, British or French have to say.....they have a long history of abusing Egypt's good intentions.

Syria is not a signatory to any chemical weapons treaties, and this all happened within their own borders. Try again.

I never have liked any of the posters and drawings etc. of the Crusades depicted as Americans....it was a Catholic thing IMO and not a Christian thing at all. But they did get on board with the idea none the less....and made Christianity look evil in the eyes of the nations.

Amash: Syria authorization vote would fail
By Jeremy Herb - 08/28/13 03:40 PM ET

A vote in Congress to authorize military action in Syria would fail, Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) said Wednesday.

Amash is one of more than 100 House members who have signed onto a letter urging Obama to receive authorization from Congress before launching any military strikes in Syria.

He alleged on Twitter Wednesday that the White House — and perhaps the congressional leaders of his own party — isn’t bringing Congress back to vote on a Syria resolution because it would not pass.

“Why don’t Pres Obama & leaders in Washington want Congress to vote on attacking #Syria? Because the vote would fail,” Amash tweeted.

<....”pressure mounts on west to let weapons inspectors finish their job”....>

Well they should wait...but meanwhile the “political dance” in the UN and among our congressional leaders needs to be the show as well.

‘Hague’ is undependable and in my opinion as dangerous as McCain....perhaps more so since he has the position to make some calls which makes wether he’s given the go or not...He needs to be on a very short leash.

Dear Mr. Amash: Unfortunately at this time, the president has the authority to launch a military action against Syria without congressional approval.

Why?

Because the president will claim "that the U.S. was in grave danger" from Assad's chemical weapons. [Many presidents have used that clause]

Now, we all know that's bovine excrement, but the Republican controlled House has no balls. Can't impeach the first black president, even if he tramples on the Constitution (and flag: see First Wookie).

I know the Senate for conviction is a lost cause. Even if 0bama is impeached, we get Biden.

I hope we all survive the next three years.

Just one little problem in my humble opinion .... since the rebels with mb backing probably did the deed (imho) I have complete doubt, if proven, anyone would be told anything other than the probable lie being brought to the forefront. Something else is going on and the west may have full knowledge of the rebels and the mb having been the perpetrators. This opens up threat avenue and western leaders are feeding the cobra, in hopes, of the cobra remaining tame enough to not strike the west. Of course though then there are several wild cards named iran, turkey, saudi, china, and russia.

So, the scorecard reads:

Russia and China walk out of the UNSC meeting.

Britain is stalling until the Hans Blix Ballet Company performs;

“The French will grovel to anyone with strength...”

And of course, The Won is ronery...

Russia and China say they did not walk out, but clearly they are stalling.
