My church has been doing this for years, so I presume it is not illegal here.
RE: wtf is wrong with these people.
More importantly, what’s wrong with the people who vote for these people who make laws like these?
Unfortunately, experience shows that regularly feeding large numbers of homeless without proper facilities — meaning tables, trash cans, and restrooms — means that they use the outdoors and overburden someone else’s facilities. That results in an unsanitary mess and destructive impacts on property owners, businesses, and the general public. That is why even liberal cities oppose the practice and usually win any resulting court fights.
i am well aware of many of the behaviors of the homeless... i have come into contact with a few almost daily for the last six months... i also have a nephew who suffers from schizophrenia who has been on the streets in the past...
That's what I always worry about. Those guys apparently never think about the guy who's been drinking during the day, or arguing with his / her significant other (even hands free), or yelling at a child, or . . .
Then you’ll be qualified to give them vomit flavored food.

Yep. You’re supposed to give them cash so they can buy drugs instead.
“Usually the women give so they dont feel guilty. I know numerous women who tell me this. Charity is a good thing. Giving handouts to these people is not helping them.”
Black panhandlers in Newark target the women; they are easier to intimidate. If cities would protect people against panhandlers I’m sure most donations would dry up. Every time I wave some shiftless able-bodied bum past, only to see the person (usually female) in the next car give them money (because they didn’t get their window up on time) it makes me sick...
bttt
It all depends on who is handing out the free stuff and thus getting some political benefit.
We’re way past that point with the entitlement class in this country.
“It Is Illegal To Feed The Homeless In Cities All Over The United States”
It’s also illegal to feed pigeons in many cities and for the same reasons.
If I see a homeless person actually looking for food in garbage cans, I take them to the nearest restaurant, buy them a meal, and make sure management understands what’s happening so they’re on board.
Give them all bus tickets to San Freakcisco.
What the article so delicately dances around is that the majority of these laws are about what you can and cant do in the city parks - not about feeding the homeless.
Most cities don’t care if you feed the homeless, as long as it is on your own property. Of course the article does not want you to come to that understanding.

Volunteer fire departments need funds too, but can't pick your pocket for them like municipal departments can.
Same here in Orlando area....we call those campsites “hooches”. Some of these folks work in regular jobs and even have TVs and electronics. No kidding
Bus 'em from there to San Freakcisco. Give 'em the box lunch for the trip, but make them have to get aboard to take it.
