Several retired U.S. military leaders have sent a letter to the President urging him not to use military force in Syria and at the minimum consult with Congress to get a declaration of war or use of military force authorization before starting anything.
Imagine BARNEY Elmer Fudd FRANK.... as secratary of ANYTHING???
I never took calculus in school. Apparently, all that crazy math he did adds up to the magic number of 2 (and sometimes 17 trillion).
Israels enemies are in disarray and we act like we need to do something. Is that because the obama tribe feels the same?
I actually understand PRECISELY why this was leaked, by the administration, up to and including the precise weapons loadout and the duration of the attack:
Obama backed himself into a corner.
He doesnt want to do this (its polling poorly) yet he committed to the Muslim Brotherhood he would.
He wants to keep his chops with the Caliphate crowd, he loves them so dearly. Yet he doesnt want to start a true world war (yet, anyways) and he doesnt want to lose more people prior to the 2014 elections (after those, by the way, all bets are off).
With a leaked attack, he gets to keep his street-cred with the Muslim Brotherhood, yet feel no backlash, abroad or at home.
Under what authorization could Obama use military action against Syria?
Obama needs impeached. The Repub leadership is scared to do it because they made a deal with the “powers that be” and the devil. They agreed not to impeach the next Democrat if the Dems wouldn’t impeach Bush. The whole crooked Congressional shebang is a political see-saw of crooked politicians protecting each others backside but stabbing the people in the back. They protect the status quo and those that own them, as they allow quasi dictators to steal our rights and take care of their cronies. We need a third Party.

Many of those czars now in powerful positions in the USA government oddly are relative newcomers to the USA, but of Russian Communist heritage. That’s where they learned the ropes on how to manipulate us.
Oh you noticed the Dem silence. They were hoping you wouldn’t notice. They are at the moment desperately trying to find ways that this is right and W’s action in Iraq was wrong.
Maybe one of those little three-column charts will appear in one of the print lackeys with the action in the middle column and the left and right columns showing the difference between the evil Bush and Saint Obama.
LOL. It’s not our fight. What is the strategic need?
Why do we care if Assad stays or goes?
Where are all the peaceniks?
If government did nothing we’d realize that it doesn’t do anything, but make things worse.
I keep wondering, when are these bastards going to let loose here. I predict they burn a city to the ground. Iranians have people here, I’m sure, ready to kill.
And Israel could get nuked if Iran has it ready. Could get dicey real fast.
He should make himself useful and go play golf.
I peeped in on the DemocraticUnderground.
They’re not happy. Nervous, unsure.
I am really surprised at what I’m reading here. I don’t want action either.
But, how many of you would honestly be upset if Bush was going to bomb Syria? Be honest with yourself.
Not one post on here acknowledging the obvious fact that chemical weapons were used....instead wag the dog comments.
Just find it odd.
Not saying we should involve ourselves at all, but suddenly we have become Ron Paul isolationists when the president changes parties. A bit hypocritical, don’t you think?
You are comparing apples to oranges. Post-Iraq, I would have been upset if GWB wanted action against Syria. GWB sold me on WMD in Iraq. What we got was a bloody mess, no WMD, a huge backlash, and Obama in 2008. My threshold is now astronomically higher for mucking around in that Middle East hornets nest again.
But Obama's chemical weapons rationale is not some misguided venture to protect the U.S. from a threat; it is simply subterfuge for using the U.S. military to destabilize Assad and helping the Muslim Brotherhood/Al Queda come to power in Syria, the way he did in Egypt and Libya.
Most of us here signed on to Iraq because we believed GWB was going to secure Iraq's WMD from falling into the hands of terrorists. Yes, we were oversold but believed U.S. interests were at stake.
Most of us here oppose Obama on Syria because we know for a fact it has nothing at all to do with U.S. interests, and everything to do with helping the Muslim Brotherhood overthrow Assad.
Russia and Iran will definitely counterattack US forces if Omullah bombs Assad.
It’s not like its just a drone in Yemen rocketing some old dude out of his wheelchair.
Syria is a complete client state of Russia, armed by Russian client state Iran.
The friends of Syria will not stand by for this stupidity. They will act.
Speaking of stepping in it... News from the prop side:
Check out the list showing how ‘Americans’ feel re: Obama/Syria.
The new Iraqi canal.
I’d love to play any game with Obama.
He just flat doesn’t know what the Hell he’s doing.
Unfortunately, our enemies also know this....
This situation seems like Iraq when President Bush was considering going over there. I think that we need to take care of this and support the decision as we did with President Bush. Saddam used chemical weapons and now Syria is.....I see no difference between the two countries except different administration.
Now do I have this right?... that this Syrian conflict is composed of Hamas, Al-Gaeda and Muslim Brotherhood elements? obozo had better keep his nose out of the fights between our enemies with each other. That's what I'm hearing. If obozo gets involved, it's because he's trying to help his Muslim Brotherhood faction. This ahole in our White House had better keep his nose out of it and not get us involved.
Telling the enemy all the limits of a limited response, that’s the Obama way.
Well, Hamas is a Palestinian extremist organization in Gaza, so who I think you mean is Hezbollah. They are in Lebanon but are totally backed by Iran and ARE involved in helping Assad in Syria, as is the Iran regime itself.
As for the Muslim Brotherhood and al-qaeda - the Brotherhood actually gave birth to al-qaeda years ago. It’s sort of a “respectable” front group for the famous back group of avowed terror. It is hard to know precisely what the Muslim Brotherhood is doing at any place, any time. They are not transparent, to borrow a discredited Obama word. Where we do see and hear them, such as in Egypt, they are involved in politics and appear to be a political party interested in winning elections. But that is just the aspect they WANT to be shown.
Al-qaeda on the other hand is very apparent in their actions and they are heavily involved in Syria on the rebel side.
Obama either knows what he’s doing and is coming down on the worst side in a war in which there is no good side, or he doesn’t have a clue what he is doing but insists on doing it anyhow.
Either way, the prospect is frightening.
No, I have no heart. I also had no heart for those in Dresdan or Hiroshima. Tough shit. Kill them all so my kids can live in peace.
Regardless of administration, when muslems are killing muslems the appropriate response is to arm both sides until there are none left.
Zero is a crude dork who has no clue about WTH he's about to do.
If one side of this civil war is the Assad regime and its followers, and the other side is a mix of AQ, other terrorist groups, and a bunch of civilians who quite likely support the jihadists, why on earth would America be wasting money and risking lives to put a stop to this? I say let them have at it.
I was against Bush attacking Iraq. It made no sense to me. I didn’t see Hussein as the threat Bush said he was. After a time, I then ignored my thoughts since I trusted Bush. People on the other side are doing the same thing with Obama.
latest report is Israelis are updating their supplies.
I got my clockdown clock ready: 27 hours 38 seconds and counting. Got my Google Maps showing the precise locations of the Damascuse bombing strikes. And look I can also trace the movements of all US and NATO ships. Wait a minute, the US Navy is replacing the US flag with the rainbow flag on one US Naval aircraft carrier, and they’re painting a bullseye symbol on another aircraft carrier. Give me a moment, they’re painting some words, aha it says. “Assad please strike here.” But isn’t that Lindsey Graham I see on that ship? Isn’t he supposed to be in South Carolina right now? Well, the good news is that his re-election chances are slim if he stays on that aircraft carrier. That makes Assad a hero for South Carolina.
As a matter of fact, I just started reading Winston Churchill’s account of World War I about a week ago. It’s a large book so I may not finish it until after World War III ends. I just hope I don’t get nuked before I find out who wins WWI(Sarc). Nonetheless, the pre WWI era closely resembles our current era.
ROFL! The disconnect from reality is complete for the acolytes of the Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers.
Chode, could you photoshop a queen of diamonds in Jarretts hand?
This is a responsible and fair answer. Thanks. Very logical.
So far Obama is wasting all of our time and endangering half the planet...
His on again, off again threats are pathetic. By now, all military targets have been moved and stored.
During the 1979 Hostage Crisis, Pres. Carter begged for the Iranians to release the hostages. Then he threatened them, then he begged again, then he threatened them. It was a farce. Then we he did act, brave men died in the desert.
Obama is set to break Carter's “Pathetic” record for stupidity...and the world is passing their version of the popcorn...
“is considering” = “is golfing until those who wield power make a decision and call him off the course to announce it”
“And with any luck, Obamas bombs could kill a few kids and I could send the images all over the world and inflame the Muslims agains the U.S”
ASSAD: Come to think of it, let’t move as many kids to the chem weapons factory as possible. Get those cameras ready. Evil Americans — killing innocent children.
