REPORT: Obama Is Considering A Limited Two-Day Strike On Syrian Military Targets
Business Insider ^ | 08/27/2013 | Michael Kelly

President Obama is considering a strike on Syrian military targets involving sea-launched cruise missiles or possibly long-range bombers that would last no more than two days, according to senior administration officials and reported by Karen DeYoung and Anne Gearan of The Washington Post. Reuters reports that the West has told the opposition to expect a strike "within days."

The limited strike would seemingly be a response to allegations that the Syrian government used chemical weapons on its own people before dawn on August 21. Hundreds were killed and thousands suffered "neurotoxic symptoms."

The design of the potential attack implies sending a message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad without becoming entrenched in the 29-month conflict.

On Monday U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said: "There is a reason why President Obama has made clear to the Assad regime that this international norm [of chemical weapons use] cannot be violated without consequences."

The Post notes that the targets would not be directly related to Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal and would probably include key government buildings in the capital and perhaps airfields.

Yeah, that should work just fine. What could possibly go wrong?

Military does not have enough munitions due to sequester to support a three day war....

Note to Obmaa, this isn’t the “knock out” game.
If you’re going to kill the king, first kill the king.
Obama thinks two days of shock and awe shucks, will
do the trick, don’t think so.

IIRC the Libyan operation was to take only six weeks. Eight months later...

I don’t believe anything coming from this regime.

It’s been reported that she was running the Benghazi operation and suppressed response attempts and follow up investigations.

Has Obama carved ten commandments onto anything yet?

Has he given a sermon on the Mount?

Exactly! Events can quickly unravel and move in a direction that no one can foresee, like the Cuban missile crises and the Vietnam war.

I had to check to see if it was satire. We’re going to bomb places that have nothing to do with chemical weapons because Syria used chemical weapons. Simply stupid.

Is he going to return his Nobel Peace Prize after starting his fourth war?

Can we start calling him a war criminal yet?

"For fun I went over to Huffington Post to see how the No Blood for Oil Hippies were trying to spin their way out of this, and this is an actual post and not satire.

The President is being forced into this action by a Republican War Mongering Congress. He has done everything possible to bring peace to this area but the remnants of the Bush Era (including pressure by the Koch Brothers) are forcing this issue. We need to let our President bring peace to this area like he wants to. This is going to force our country into deeper debt and will be used under the pretense by the Republicans to delay and defund Obamcare. The world wants to allow President Obama negotiate peace in the middle east. He has the ability, knowledge, and expertise to bring peace to the world. World Nations recognized when the entire world came together to nominate and award him a Nobel Peace Prize. We need to support our President and not the Republican Congress who wants to keep us in wars."

Amazing, but Senators McMental and Linda Graham make this type of delusional thinking more possible and if it gets really messy, Zero can blame the GOP. Where are McConnnell and Boehner??

Anyone remember the left screaming about "Bush Lied and thousands died"

We all know that Saddam had WMD and used them on his own people. Is history repeating itself and is the right now able to scream at the lefties the same way they attacked GWB? Oh I think I know the answer to that rhetorical question - it is called HYPOCRISY.

That’s about as long as he wants to be away from the golf course, i guess.

I think if our side has balls they’d read his own words from 2007 talking about how the president can’t just do these non self-defense attacks on his own without Congress.

Just have someone get out there and read his own damn words. He can’t even govern to his own standards. Just get out there, at least fox will carry it. Rush will carry it. Good grief.

Anyone on our side actually up for a little damn DEFENSE against Obama and the libtards? All our guys’ nutsacks are carrying dried up little peas.

I for one do not want him to go to war with Syria. I don’t believe he has the power to, and even if he did I don’t want him to do it.

So mark my opposition to this occurring.

What does it cost to launch a missile at Syria and where does that money come from?

I'd rather our violent country killing borders be secured and 40 percent of government be downsized and eliminated which would result in substantially lower taxes for Americans.

They are going with missile strikes as Syria has a couple hundred ZSU 23-4's (nasty little buggers) and a couple thousand manpad's. While I don't think that alone could thwart our air power, we WILL suffer a few losses and from there escalation happens rather quickly.

Anyone know what their land to sea capabilities are? Will our naval vessels be in harms way (I assume our attack will be coming from the Med)?
