REPORT: Obama Is Considering A Limited Two-Day Strike On Syrian Military Targets
Business Insider ^ | 08/27/2013 | Michael Kelly

President Obama is considering a strike on Syrian military targets involving sea-launched cruise missiles or possibly long-range bombers that would last no more than two days, according to senior administration officials and reported by Karen DeYoung and Anne Gearan of The Washington Post. Reuters reports that the West has told the opposition to expect a strike "within days."

The limited strike would seemingly be a response to allegations that the Syrian government used chemical weapons on its own people before dawn on August 21. Hundreds were killed and thousands suffered "neurotoxic symptoms."

The design of the potential attack implies sending a message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad without becoming entrenched in the 29-month conflict.

On Monday U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said: "There is a reason why President Obama has made clear to the Assad regime that this international norm [of chemical weapons use] cannot be violated without consequences."

The Post notes that the targets would not be directly related to Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal and would probably include key government buildings in the capital and perhaps airfields.

Correction Cyprus is where the airbase is. It is well within missile range and any destroyer in range of Syria for cruise missile strikes..without over flying neutral territory is vunerable to cruise missiles.

The Black Sea Fleet has added two new Sierra 2 Class Fast Attack Submarines. Those are serious war machines. They are armed with Sunburn Missiles.

"It's a Gulf of Tonkin if you ask me. This is my first instinct. It is a shame when I believe the Syrian Foreign Minister over the LYING SON OF BITCH John Kerry who also claimed our own troops committed "war crimes". He damned well could be lying here, too. " AMAZING how quiet the Anti-War liberal left is on yet another pending undeclared war by the Peace Prize President Obama, isn't it??

LBJ went from being a so called great president with the liberals with his war on poverty, which is still being lost, to one of the worse presidents ever after he deepened the Nam War because of the so called Gulf of Tonkin event.

Now, Obozoliar appears to be following in the footsteps of LBJ with his lies about Assad and Syria, while covering for the Muslim Brotherhood Thugs and al Queda in Syria.

"Obongo's drawing us in and he will go with or without the consent of the Congress and the Consent of the Governed. This could be an impeachable act if he botches it and was not legally covered. What's it to him if a few US pilots get shotdown, some guys get seriously injured in the cruise missile prep on our ships, Americans citizens are kidnapped by Hezbollah in Beirut,, US Embassy and consulates across the Middle East are MANPAD-ed with major strikes, and otherwise all hell breaks loose. Domestically, he can get NSA, Obamacare, Fox News wiretap-gate, IRS-gate and Benghazi off the front pages."

The design of the potential attack implies sending a message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad ...

And the message is:

Immediately stop allowing those Rebel Forces to launch chemical attacks and blame them on you.

The Russians don’t need to get involved, as the U.S. is shooting itself, again.

If the Iranians close the Gulf, oil goes to $200 and the U.S. economy crashes. Russia makes a huge windfall as it is the largest oil producer.

Likely, but in GoT, I think LBJ had cooperation from Congress in a formal resolution. We won’t even get that.

BO is only capable of “committing” to the arbitrary, but never the necessary.

Largely because his moral compass was never activated.

How about a cost of living increase for the old folks struggling to get by on their SS checks instead?

Those people are completely dependent on the government whether they get increases or not. Therefore they are not a priority. And not launching missiles at Syria, though it would seem to be financially sound, does not actually translate to more money for Social Subsistence. That would be a non sequitur.

Yeah, there’s nothing like letting them know what you’re gonna do and how long you’re gonna do it...

Brilliant. What geniuses we have running things.

Compare this with how that Cowboy Bush spent painstaking weeks and months lining up Congressional and Allied and (attempted) UN support.

For fun I went over to Huffington Post to see how the No Blood for Oil Hippies were trying to spin their way out of this, and this is an actual post and not satire.

The President is being forced into this action by a Republican War Mongering Congress. He has done everything possible to bring peace to this area but the remnants of the Bush Era (including pressure by the Koch Brothers) are forcing this issue. We need to let our President bring peace to this area like he wants to. This is going to force our country into deeper debt and will be used under the pretense by the Republicans to delay and defund Obamcare. The world wants to allow President Obama negotiate peace in the middle east. He has the ability, knowledge, and expertise to bring peace to the world. World Nations recognized when the entire world came together to nominate and award him a Nobel Peace Prize. We need to support our President and not the Republican Congress who wants to keep us in wars.

Liberals truly are insane

I am totally convinced that if you could get the media on your side, you could filet a newborn child on live national TV using an ax and you’d be praised, or made excuses for at the very least.

We are living near the end-times I think.

Obama Is Considering A Limited Two-Day Strike On Syrian Military Targets

Because with Sequestration on top of the huge military cuts Obama already ordered in 2009 and 2012, we can't afford to fight for Three days.

What is Jarrett’s function in our White House? I don’t remember voting for her so why is she there? Was she vetted by congress? What is her salary? What do we really know about her?

Tell vichy french Kerry to tell his french instigators to use their own d@mn bombs to start WWII. They own this conflict..not us, d@mn money hungry lazy manipulators.

Americans decide where to drop their bombs..not the dictators in Washington or the UN or the French. This "evidence" for us to get involved smells to high heaven.
