The father said he had no specifics on a cause of death.

The teen had talked with his parents about the book "Into the Wild" and told a friend he wanted to run away.

Croom's SUV was found Wednesday in Riddle, a town of 1,200 people just off the state's main north-south thoroughfare, Interstate 5.

People have no clue what it really takes to live without the “grocery store”.

A lot of inner city dwellers have no clue what it takes to live without a drive through.

From the article:

The body of Johnathan Croom, 18, was found Monday evening about 1,000 feet from where his vehicle was found abandoned last week, Douglas County sheriff's spokesman Dwes Hutson said in a statement.

Maybe not, but you'd think they'd make it more than 300 yards.

There may be more to the story than the book the media keep harping on.

Most likely suicide or death by being dumb. city people have no clue what it takes to quote to "live off the land"

I was raised hunting, fishing and trapping. I have done a couple so call survival trips as training.

What I learn is if you can bring enough food.

A suburban white boy reading “Into The Wild” and actually deciding to run away into the wild is like a suburban white girl witnessing ritual female circumcision and deciding to run away to Mecca.

You’d also think the LE would have been able to find him 3 football fields from his car. He’d been missing over a week so the smell alone would have been a major clue, not to mention the buzzards circling and the swarm of flies. It’s obvious they couldn’t be bothered.

The other possibility is that the kid had wandered twenty miles into the wilderness and only managed to find his way back to his car just as he died from exposure or thirst a mere 100 yards from where he started.
