Russia and China will ask for some serious concessions, not just from the Saudis, but from the US and NATO.

Russia will demand removal of US Forces from Europe and a massive disarmament of US nuclear weapons and Missile Defense. China will demand that the US stop arming Taiwan and reign in the Japanese Defense Forces.

Saudis: "Say, that's a nice Winter Olympics ya got planned there! It would be a R-E-A-L shame if anything happened to it!"

My guess is, 0bama retires to Saudi Arabia, China or Russia after he’s done sabotaging the United States.

The Saudis could be the greatest national security threat the USA faces

Russia tends to respect alliances, no matter how costly it is.
Also, they have been at war with Sunni islam for centuries and Saudi Arabia is an epicenter. It is a matter of culture, values, probably a racist moment involved but it is how it is. It is mutual from the other side. Russians are extremely non-halal uberinfidels by muslim’s books.
Any alliance between SA and Russia is about as realistic as an alliance between Hitler and Stalin in 1942.
No matter how good a bargain is, it is pretty much impossible.
Too much Russian blood on Sunni jihadi hands and vice versa.

I have seriously entertained that exact sentiment.

Yep. I pretty much only see Russia agreeing to make Saudi Arabia a graveyard, and I have never seen Russia tolerate threats like those alleged in the article.

It might be racist, but you are correct, that is the way they think. Russian media sites refer to Bandar as looking like an ape.

Why would Putin trust them? And why would he throw away the chance to dominate the Meditteranean through Syria? Russian influence is also growing daily in Greece, a country impoverished by EU membership.

High oil prices are bad for everyone in the US.

High oil prices mean higher prices and interest rates for everything.

Even if you own oil, they will tax your “excess profits” away in the name of fairness.

I can see Putin and the Sauds telling Assad “We have to allow America to save face. But there will be very few injuries. And, there’s a lot in it for you AND for us.”

Obama gets his “moment of peace” and everyone is happy.

Or, Putin outsmarts Obama and simply calls him the schoolyard punk that he is and tells him to do whatever the hell he thinks is best for his country.

It’s sad that the last two presidents have been made by Putin to look like little girls in bobby sock.

So sad we have to get virtually ALL of our somewhat trustworthy news from foreign sources. Just another indicator...
